Auditioning for Berklee

Im a senior in high school and I will be auditioning for Berklee School of Music in the next month. I dont know if anyone on here knows very much about this school or has attended it, but I would like some advice on what type of prepared piece to play and what the audition might consist of from a personal standpoint. Thanks guys.

I am a Berklee Grad (one of the few that went the distance)...I don't recall much about the audition process, but I wouldn't stress too much about it.

As long as you can play, even just a little, they'll let you in. As long as your folks' financials look good.

If your folks' financials aren't so good, you better play your ass off.

I wish that tour would end already, so Mikey can get home and update the guitars page! Can't he just take pictures on the road and FTP them to the Vai site???

Sorry, wrong place!!!! I'm dumb.

This isn't true anymore. They've changed alot over the past year. Auditions are now mandatory and certain requirements need to be met. They know they'll get the money. You need to be able to play.

I can't argue, as i got accepted in 1987.

As far as being in Oz, that probably increases you chances, as they LOVE to boast having an international community.

Berklee tuition fees

http://www.berklee.edu/pdf/tuition/tuition.pdf

Obviously you won't need a new laptop every semester so that cost can be discounted but tuition fees and living expences add up.

Wow that's some hefty prices. I'm glad that I live in a country where my education didn't cost me penny (except for my time in Germany).

Regards

André

Re: Auditioning for Berklee

No way, you can get a good laptop for school for only $600-$900, all you need is a Dell or something, I don't know what there using, but going the prices I'm betting Alienwear Aurora m9700 with everything but the kitchen sink or G4 Macbook Pro widescreen, which you don't need really. Unless there also supplying you with top of the line recording software which I doubt...
