bad horsie question

On the song Bad Horsie by Steve Vai I was wondering if Steve actually uses his Jem to make the horse whinnie sound in the beginning.

He does all the horse noises except for the gruffy sounding ones that are obviosly samples.

Actually, I think you're both right.
It's a combination of 3:
1) Steve's guitar-- - the really high whinnieing
2) Processes human vocals- -listen to the very end
3) actual horse sound samples-- 2 bars right before each solo section

I'm reading this back and suddenly realize just how anal I am about Steve's music!

hi, im pretty sure the horse sounds on steves guitar are made by pulling of a natural harmonic on the A string, half way between the 2nd and 3rd fret, then pulling up on your whammy and shaking it whilst relesing it to original pitch. Thats how i figured it out anyway!

Actually if you listen closely as it trails off, RIIIIIIIIGHT before the song "Juice" kicks in, it sounds an awful lot like Steve's voice going "aaaaaaaaaaaaah."

Seriously.

Stop laughing.

Well, he made the same noises in Crossroads (played the intro to Bad Horsie when he was essentially doing the "train noise" thing). So he can do it with at least a couple different brands of guitar.

The question is regarding the actual horse sound at the very end of the song, not the little obvious whammy bar whinnies througout.
