Re: BAND NAMES
Mine is Inersia X and we play progressive metal, I got another band which I've quit and the band's name is PARDON ME and is playing alternative rock. Try names that go hand in hand with your genre. You don't want to put a band's name such as for example Meeting Lisa and plays deathmetal, but it's really up to you

Re: BAND NAMES
Lol, my friends and I are planning to make a band for our school. We were making a bunch of joke names. My favorite was Ramses III God of Metal, you can't beat that name LOL. (We were somehow planning to get millions of dollars and invest it into a giant, gold, head-banging Ramses statue XD).

Re: BAND NAMES
Read a lot. You can get names from literary reference. That's what I do. A good vocabulary helps a lot too.

Re: BAND NAMES
Also, if all else fails, take a random word and add "x" to the end of it. I don't know why, but the "x" makes it sound much better. For example: Hi X, Shred X, Fed. Ex., Water X, Bottle X, Phone X, Orchestra X, Walker X, Jesus X... I can go on doing this all day, Paper X, Slash X, Chemical X, Kinetic X, Potential X, French X, Spanish X, Arabic X, Hebrew X, Runner X (I think you get my point from now). Another potential band name is PaciFIST ( You should draw a Fist on the drum set). The name is kind of an oxymoron, pacifist means peace, but since we're emphasizing the "FIST" part, it makes it seem violent-ish.

Re: BAND NAMES
why not? i think "meeting lisa" is a great name for any type of band.
we sat around and thought of some names. just thought of 2 words, put them together, and came up with some great ones accidentally. one of them, i thought was so cool, i'm going to record a cd under it, i liked that joke name so much. like a fun side project...why not.

apparently worked for Devil wears prada and Job for a Cowboy...though they aren't really death metal.
If it's a metal band, I find the best
band names
are one word three or four syllables. No 'the' infront, no plural forms: Metallica, Behemoth, Suffocation, Nevermore, Origin, Gorgoroth, Kreator, Mortician, Deicide etc etc...
my old band was called Tyranogen.

When our band thought of a name we didn't want to "lock" ourselves into a genre, we wanted to give ourselves some flexibility in terms of genre, but different things work for different people.
For our band it was a choice between Handle Bar (bass player thought of that) or Equalizer (thought of by me
)...... we went with Equalizer
To get inspiration try looking at whats around you and see if you can think of any names that way
