Back in March, the band I was in broke up because the drummer and singer wanted to become bum buddies and didn't even want to practice anymore, and it was the drummer and singer that needed practice the most! We were JUST starting to get out name out there, and then these two boneheads just caused the carpet to be pulled underneath the rest of us. The gig that we broke up on (Opening up for Ill Nino), Sony Records turned out to be there scouting out for talent!!!! Argh. Talk about a knife in the heart!!
Today, we finally found a drummer that we can say that fits us just right. His band fell apart as well and was looking to join w/ us but never took up on the opportunity, but since he was a free agent, my other guitar buddy (Dave) and I snatched him right when we found out he was a free agent.
This guy is a genius in drums. He's only 18, and does some of the most amazing things ever seen out of someone of his age. This guy (Stephen) can do anything from epic jazz solos to straight out metal blast beats, which is EXACTLY what we need. The last guy we tried out wanted to do straight-out hardcore/thrash/doom/speed/shred metal, which isnt exactly what we were looking for. but Stephen is VERSATILE, and GOOD!! I just had to tell you guys how happy I am. I am finally feeling a band starting to form again. A few weeks ago, I was losing motivation and even questioned my reason for
playing guitar, my musical life, my motivation in life.
I finally feel better. Have anybody ever felt like this after the band has taken a fall?
