Believe it or not, Yai Yai sells Reflections CD's

I just had to share this experience with the fellow Jemsters / S.V. fans - It's kinda one of those have to be there things but I'll try to describe it and keep it a short as possible. There is a liquor store up the street in my town that has a drive through window. Not that I ever go to the liquor store There are a couple a cool blokes that work the window. The other day I decided (for what ever reason) to jam Yai Yai (loudly) as I went through the drive-though. You should have seen their faces..hahahaha! "What is that" and they were laughing. Then one of them started dancing to it and making faces. The crowd inside the store began to notice and everyone wondered what this strange crazy noise was. Soon everyone (like 25 people including the Coors girls were all laughing and dancing along. Well...if you could call it dancing. It was quite surreal..all these people doing the Elmer Fudd jig in circles twirling their arms whilst making bunny teeth faces. Truly one of the funniest things I have ever seen (like I said, you had to be there) Vai has a way of pulling people together. They were all asking who that was....I said Steve Vai and showed then the CD. There all like...who??? I played a couple REAL songs like Building the Church, Lotus Feet, Freak Show....but...they didn't care for it...they all wanted to hear Yai Yai again (eh......?) Anyhow, 3 of the employees, 2 of the customers and one ~HOT~ Coors girl all bought the CD solely for the song....er what ever it is "Yai Yai" (I have seen it with my own eyes) I guess Mr. Vai included Yai Yai on the CD for a reason...Go figure...I am still scratchin my head on this one! Hey..maybe I can get in on some of the royalties

Apologies for the lengthy entry

Jim

Seeing Steve here in Colorado at the FOX April 19th....YEAH!!!!

It's a pretty cool track. Like belching through a wah pedal or something. And that tune really sticks in your head.

Call me artsy, but my favorite track on there is "Under It All". Just amazing. 2nd place is a tie between "Lotus Feet" and "Building the Church".

I also really like "Under It All". It's got it all- blistering guitar solo, interesting story, powerful lyrics. Plus the intro reminds me of old Van Halen stuff. Like "House of Pain" or "Girl Gone Bad"

I agree...it is a catchy tune after you hear it a few times. It was just so weird when I first heard it. How does he do that anyhow? Sounds like a wah w/ a voice box or something.

My kids, my 6 year old daughter especially, love Yai Yai....she thinks he' burping at the beginning (which might explain its popularity at the liquor store :-p )

Unfortunately, they're not interested in hearing much beyond that either.

Just goes to show ya - appeal to the lowest common denominator and you'll sell millions.
