Re: Best guitar solos on a record on all metal subgenres?

Jason Becker played in "A little aint enough".

Liquid Tension albums dont really count since we are only talking about non solo and non instrumental albums. Otherwise, PAW would ve been on almost everybodys list.

Re: Best guitar solos on a record on all metal subgenres?

Metallica - Master of Puppets
Motorhead - Ace of Spades
Slayer - Raining Blood
Megadeth - Rust in Peace
Ozzy Osbourne - Crazy Train

Arch Enemy - Anything!
Lamb of God - Anything!

I didnt want to go into any of the Gilbert or Vai stuff, because for me, that isnt in the same genre or sub genre as metal. For me metal is different. Metal is its own brand. I would personally classify Gilbert, Vai etc as instrumental. There are so many solos and songs to pick from though, the list could go on and on.

but his jazz records kick a$$, too! alex skolnick simply had a more precise style than murphy... think he was always a bit of the rhythm, not as punchy as skolnick.

children of bodom -children of bodom
have to agree that most of those arch enemy songs have great solos, too!

Re: Best guitar solos on a record on all metal subgenres?

Muhammed Suiçmez's solo on Fermented Offal Discharge is the best death metal solo ever, as far as I'm concerned. I also like all of Marty Friedman's solos. Other favorites include Jeff Loomis, Paul Gilbert, Alex Skolnick, Chuck Schuldiner, and Mikael Åkerfeldt. I really like Glen Drover's solos on United Abominations, especially the ones on "Sleepwalker" and "Burnt Ice."

Vai isn't metal, but he's my favorite guitarist.

I'm guessing you're like 13?

As far as metal goes I'd have to say Marty Freidman on rust in peace.

based on what? get out of it

for metal i'd have to say something by one of the kings of metal phrasing - Dimebag.
maybe vulgar display of power or cowboys for some consistently cool solos
