Question for you about Testament. Did they make a major change to their style at some point? I haven't listened to them for a while, but back in the day I knew the Practice What You Preach album and its follow-up quite well, and quite enjoyed them. (ie. The vocals were real vocals). Anyway I was on the itunes istore the other day sampling some song clips of theirs and from what I can tell of their newer more recent stuff it now sounds like DEATH metal, with the vocals resembling that "Rrrooar, rooarr, rooaarr!" crap common to the genre - if you know what I mean.

What the hell happened to those guys??

it is the same band, however they have had 23 different people come in and out of that band. The current band is actually back a near original lineup though.

How did someone forget Death?..tisk tisk. Currently right now THE best metal bands are Necrophagist and Arsis (if only they could keep members). The price you pay for excellence....oh and am i seeing a trend here? Death is probably one of the best bands ever and NEVER had a solid line-up (until the control denied crossover of course)

Old Metallica, Old Megadeth, Arch Enemy, Angra, As I Lay Dying, Maiden, Sabbath, Gamma Ray, Masterplan, Killswitch Engage, Kamelot, Anterior, Trivium, Dark Tranquility and a few others are what I like.

I know it's funny, but I love metal yet I hate the cliche association with evil and death for every band. I like the sound of the music and to me it's got nothing to do with stuff like that.

Am I the only one here that likes Carcass? How can that possibly be so? Please tell me it's not true.

I've always had a soft spot for Kreator's Extreme Aggression, and Death Angel's Act III has been getting alot of play from me lately. Same with Cynic's Focus and Bruce Dickinson's Tyranny Of Souls.
