Blues recommondations

I am trying to get my hands on all the blues (electric) cd's I can. I am focusing on phrasing at this moment. I have purchased anything right now Robin Trower, Rory Gallagher, Joe Bonamassa, Jeff Beck and the list goes on. Can anyone post a list of must have blues albums (electric only please) I would like to see what you guys think and if you can list essential must have blues albums for me and why?

Thanks
Armando

Re: Blues recommondations

I was in the same boat last year. I wanted to get into some "real" blues, not just English white-boy versions of it that everyone knows (Clapton, Beck, Page). I started off with a bunch of SRV, of course, but my first "old school" electric blues CD was Albert King - Born Under A Bad Sign. That is a must have! Some others recommendations:
BB King - no explanation needed
Albert Collins - really like his playing, probably my second fav. to A. King
Johnny Winter - real fiery playing, great slide

As far as specific albums:
A. King/SRV - In Session
Collins/Cray/Copeland - Showdown
for BB and Winter, I have "Best Of"s that cover them pretty well.
I will recommend one from the English guys - Bluesbreakers w/Clapton. I've heard/read about this album for years and now I know why - tone and phrasing!

I also have two Buddy Guy albums but he doesn't grab me like the guys I have listed. But A LOT of people dig him, so check him out too.

Freddie King is another but I just haven't heard a lot of his stuff, I'm still waiting for the used CD place to get some in.

Check out Dave Meniketti - On The Blue Side

Better known as the frontman for Y&T but plays some great blues guitar and has a bloody good voice too.

Re: Blues recommondations

All of thee above plus Walter Trout is another favorite of mine. Gov't Mule (Warren Haynes) and Derek Trucks are also great bluesy, soulful players.
