Bowie

I just got tickets for me and my gf for David Bowie concert here in Helsinki on 10th October . Any idea what he's gonna play?

I've been listening a lot to Ziggy, Scary Monsters and some of Eartling lately. What else do you recommend?

I doubt if he's playing this stuff these days, but Man Who Sold the World rocks...also Hunky Dory & Space Oddity have some great tunes.

I've got tix to go see him in April...can't wait! He's been on my "must see" list for awhile now, and it's cool that he's playing a lot of the older material.

He's been doing "Bring Me the Disco King" from the "Underworld" soundtrack. GREAT song, and I'd love to see him do it live. It's nice that he's exploiting his massive catalog though

That's one of my favourites but he didn't play it at those two gigs, unfortunately. But he is performing it semi-regularly on this tour. I just wish he'd cranked up 'A Small Plot Of Land," "Everyone Says Hi" and "Scary Monsters (And Super Creeps)."

Oh I forgot to ask - how was it? Which gig did you see? Which city/date?

I've been fortunate enough to stumble across pristine bootlegs of the two Sydney shows, two Melbourne shows, Adelaide and Chicago. I'll tell ya one thing, you can never predict what Bowie is gunna say or do next when he's onstage.

And not only did we get 30 songs the first night, but 4 in a row off Low the second night. I'd heard he'd done that once or twice on the tour but I never dared dream I would be lucky enough to experience it myself.

I saw the show in Loveland, CO. Pretty frikin' amazing! The venue was totally bizarre: the Budweiser Events Center, which is brand new and in the middle of nowhere. Literally surrounded by farmland and cows, etc. He had great fun joking about running into a cow in the parking lot.

Incredible show from start to finish. He got huge laughs when he started "China Girl" in Mandarin Chinese. After the first verse he stopped the band and said that he told them that Szechwan would have gone over better in Colorado.

Extremely entertaining, very crowd-friendly and overall a top-notch show.

The actual Underworld version that John Frusciante and Maynard James Keenan re-did? Or the album version? Cuz I love the Underworld version (Loner Mix I think it's called), but was thrown off by how different the album version is (from the clip I heard) as I heard the Underworld version first

The live version that I've heard on a couple of recent bootlegs has been a bit mellower than the "Underworld" version. Not sure if it's the same as the album or not, but it wasn't that much different from the soundtrack version. Not as dramatic (strings, etc.) and maybe a bit jazzier...I've heard a version that was just Bowie and the keyboardist that had a cool lounge vibe to it
