Check this guy out

tadpiecka.com, check it out. This guy is a buddy of mine from berklee. I have mixed feelings about his style of playing. He's very original and has a unique approach much like that of Michael Hedges. My personal opinion is that he's got promise but he needs to work on the fundamentals a bit more. I think it's obvious that his knowledge of the instrument is limited. I'd like to know what everyone thinks.

Yeah, I thought so too. I really dig his music. Maybe I'll see him next semester at Berklee!

Glad to hear what you guys think. He's a nice guy. Been a friend of mine for about 2 years now. I've been working on things in my own technique to make my own playing a little more interesting.

I watched a video clip and what I saw was extremely impressive. He's everything I'm not as a player- extremely synchopated. I definately saw Michael Hedges written all over his playing.

Re: Check this guy out

Re: Check this guy out

Yeah Justin King is one of his favorite players. Tad has all his albums which as those of you who know of Justin King isn't easy to do. Like I said earlier I think the main thing that's keeping Tad from being at Michael Hedges' level is that Hedges had a very deep understanding of the instrument from a fundamental level. Tad was both a drummer and a bass player (still an awesome bass player can play Victor Wooten note for note.) but he's still relatively new to the guitar and is using his knowledge of the other instruments and applying it to the guitar. In my opinion I think he'd benefit from learning where all the notes are on the instrument including when he puts it in all those wacky tunings. Just my constructive criticism. I'm glad to hear what you guys think and I wouldn't mind steering my buddy tad towards this post so he could hear what you guys have to say.
