I resent that
...and not to disrespect anybody or sound ignorant but i could have told you he was asian without even watching the video. Something in their youngsters just makes them natural shredders i guess...

That kid is very good. As Gurj said, i really enjoyed the Floyd playing.
Am i missing something here?? Kontalonis, do you mean the young kid is asian? because from what i've read he's from Turkey.

My mistake, guess i should have read a little better and also looked at his name. Was caught up in the video i guess. It just seems to me that people in the north-eastern hemisphere (asia, eastern europe) are able to shred better at younger ages than us. I guess i might be a little paranoid or something.
Oh yeah......you aussies aren't bad either.

Re: Check this kid out
No worries.
One thing i've noticed of late, there seems to be some really great south american players coming through. It seems they are born with rhythm in their blood.
'Tis a shame this aussie doesn't fit into that catergory.

Re: Check this kid out
I beleive that's a rugby shirt, not a polo shirt. But i could be wrong. Polo shirt has 3 buttons up to the collar.
He all the notes right. yipee. I'm overwhelmed. Not.
Without taking away the guy's technical prowess, which there's certainly an abundance of...I'm sure someone could program a robot to play all the notes in the correct order too.
Where's the passion? Where's the soul? Where's the physical & emotional connection with the music?
I can't play that fast and call me jealous for saying what I said, but I'd rather hear a guy play one soulful note for 3:24 than a robotic replication of someone else's song. That's just me.

Thank you! Just because someone can play another person's song doesn't mean he is a great guitar player. Is he great at imitating other people's work? Sure. Is he a great guitar player? Not necessarily (although he might be
). This leads me to make a statement I've always wanted to make (kind of off topic, but this is a good place to make it):
There are two types of people who pick up the guitar:
1) Those who think that imitating and being exactly like their guitar heroes is "playing the guitar" (go out and buy the same guitar, learn all of his songs, get his amp and gear, etc)
2) Those who wish to draw inspiration from their influences and put it into their own, creative material.
Those under the second category are going to be the ones who succeed. No one wants to hear another SRV clone, a Vai clone, a Satriani clone, etc.
For example, look at that Caesar Huesca guy. Yes, he's got great chops and can play just about any Vai, Satch or other similar artist's material. But in his own stuff, he sounds just like Vai. There's no creative difference.
Keep in mind, I'm not saying that this kid (looks more like a young adult to me?) is bad...Obviously he has to have some sort of technical ability to play Shyboy.
As far as the whole Asian/Eastern Hemisphere thing goes, I think it all has to do with upbringing at home. Not to be stereotypical, but most Asians I know are strongly driven to succeed and are very dedicated. I think this is why many Asians are so smart. This attitude carries over to
guitar playing
too, so that's why you see so many talented Asian guitarists.
