choose the Houston Texans NFL house band

Our band (Bare Necessity is the name for cover shows) got invited to compete for a spot with the local football team here (houston texans, for those that aren't nfl fans) and the winner will be decided via online voting. you can vote here http://www.houstontexans.com/fanzone...oftheBands.asp but if you vote based on this post, please vote for us! not them!

There is a link to a video with a 30 second clip of Love Rollercoster, but they picked a horrible 30 seconds to choose from, we had monitor issues during that transition, so it's embarassing for me to watch, if you choose to watch it, do so at your own risk.

Any votes are appreciated, thanks for your time!

OK I voted for you. But its gonna be tough for you competing against Johnny Winters band Guppies from Outer Space. I'm surprised he's playing at Texans Games.

I definetly stop by and drink a beer with you guys at a game next year.

Re: choose the Houston Texans NFL house band

DLP..... sorry dude, I just can't vote for your band when both of the other bands chose better material. The Guppies and The slags both at least got some guitar riff's in. Not to mention much better vocals and stage presents.

As far as monitor issues..... well, post the entire clip somewhere and we can judge if it was only those 30 seconds that sucked. No hard feelings just my opinion.

But funk on a JEM???? At least the guitar and hat were "flashy"!

Personally, I voted for the "Guppies"...... three piece and potential.

BTW.... what's this about Johnny Winter????

Here look at this:

or this:

Unless Johnny has had a sex change, a boob job, and shed about 20 years that I haven't heard about, Michblanch...... you need glasses! (and hearing aids)

Re: choose the Houston Texans NFL house band

No hard feelings will be had if you vote for the other guys, don't worry. The "Johnny Winters" look-alike is definitely one spacy chick, very strange...

We felt pretty good coming off stage with the exception of the start of one song, received lots of good feedback, and then went home to find the one shaky part is what got put on the website... my drummer is screaming Conspiracy Theory, but I think somebody just picked a strange spot to put up there.

As for the song choices, funk on a jem is one of the things we did, there was some ZZ Top, Ohio Players, Willie Nelson, Bon Jovi, Black Crowes, KISS, and whoever does Jungle Boogie... we tried to cover all the bases in 30 minutes. It was a lot of fun, I've never gotten to see myself on a giant jumbo-tron before. My wife pointed out it's probably the only time I'd get to play to that many thousands of empty seats. (they only invited season ticketholders out, and that leaves a lot of room to move!) If you'd like to hear other stuff we're working on, there is a myspace page at www.myspace.com/barenecessityband though the songs that are on there are not covers, they are originals partway through the recording process, if we end up with this gig we'll be stuck doing all covers.

The Slags, one of the other groups up there, are friends of ours and we end up doing a lot of the same clubs around town, we've had to cover for them at the Houston Dynamo pregame in the past when they took a conflicting performance elsewhere, it felt strange to be invited to compete against our friends, but we all had a good time together. The Guppies were a bit stand off-ish and wouldn't hang out with the rest of us, but that's their choice. We just really enjoyed wandering around the 'backstage' areas of the stadium, checking out the locker rooms and weight rooms, and getting shocked at just how large some of those guys on the team are when you turn a corner too fast and you're face to face with a linebacker.

If we end up with this gig, we'll enjoy playing on sunday mornings at the game. if we don't, we'll keep doing what we do, which is go out to the clubs and parties and make sure everyone has a good evening.

I'll check ya out..... great you got to have fun. That's the important part! (not to mention the "jumbo-tron" appearance! )

I did check out the Guppies web page, well..... she goes for it on guitar but some of it seemed pretty "sloppy" as far as her guitar playing (technique). Again, JMHO. Hope all works out for ya. Now work on proving the wife wrong and fill that place.
