No hard feelings will be had if you vote for the other guys, don't worry. The "Johnny Winters" look-alike is definitely one spacy chick, very strange...
We felt pretty good coming off stage with the exception of the start of one song, received lots of good feedback, and then went home to find the one shaky part is what got put on the website... my drummer is screaming Conspiracy Theory, but I think somebody just picked a strange spot to put up there.
As for the song choices, funk on a jem is one of the things we did, there was some ZZ Top, Ohio Players, Willie Nelson, Bon Jovi, Black Crowes, KISS, and whoever does Jungle Boogie... we tried to cover all the bases in 30 minutes. It was a lot of fun, I've never gotten to see myself on a giant jumbo-tron before. My wife pointed out it's probably the only time I'd get to play to that many thousands of empty seats. (they only invited season ticketholders out, and that leaves a lot of room to move!) If you'd like to hear other stuff we're working on, there is a myspace page at
www.myspace.com/barenecessityband though the songs that are on there are not covers, they are originals partway through the recording process, if we end up with this gig we'll be stuck doing all covers.
The Slags, one of the other groups up there, are friends of ours and we end up doing a lot of the same clubs around town, we've had to cover for them at the Houston Dynamo pregame in the past when they took a conflicting performance elsewhere, it felt strange to be invited to compete against our friends, but we all had a good time together. The Guppies were a bit stand off-ish and wouldn't hang out with the rest of us, but that's their choice. We just really enjoyed wandering around the 'backstage' areas of the stadium, checking out the locker rooms and weight rooms, and getting shocked at just how large some of those guys on the team are when you turn a corner too fast and you're face to face with a linebacker.
If we end up with this gig, we'll enjoy playing on sunday mornings at the game. if we don't, we'll keep doing what we do, which is go out to the clubs and parties and make sure everyone has a good evening.
