Re: Christian guitarists, can I get your opinion?
There are two new songs up. Look for the ones with a low play count. I know the vocals leave quite a lot to be desired. I am hoping the singer realizes this and takes corrective measures. I don't know if he can't hear himself singing or if he just needs to get some vocal training. When he is on it is pretty good.
We also had a fill in drummer and lack of bassist this time around. Hopefully someday we can pull it all together.
The guitar playing was a little sloppy too. My apologies in advance.

After any time spent with the band I used to go home and listen to hardest heavy-metal. That helped me cope with living after having to deal with such a band.
You didn't "have" to play that band. You WANTED to do so to get use of an axe.
I would think just a tiny bit of gratitude would prevent you from making such a post.

I also find it funny that folks slag worship bands for sounding like U2 (or whoever) when there are plenty of U2 songs that are very thinly-veiled calls to God.
I like the guitar playing on "Your Love Never Changes". Sounds like there are some timing issues with the band though.
Personally, I have yet to stumble over any worship music that appeals to my ear but I applaud all sincere efforts, regardless of the genre.True creativity is a hard-won thing. And I would suspect all attempts please Him as much as any 300 year-old hymn.
Keep up the good work, Jay.

Ya, I thought the same thing when I listened to that song through laptop speakers. It sounds different through headphones.
Anyway, I am becoming slightly discouraged. Doing a project like this can really open up your eyes to things like how bad your band sucks. I kid you not we can be absolutely brilliant at times but I am the only one willing to put the effort into ironing out all of the kinks. To make things worse, I have watched a band that 7 years ago used to follow us around (they were TERRIBLE) recently start to enjoy a good bit of success. Grant it, they have put in an unimaginable amount of time and effort and it is starting to pay off, but I just can't help but feel jealous. I want nothing more than to steal their drummer and bass player and start our own thing.
But it is off to bed at the moment. I might feel a bit more cheerful in the morn.

Hey don't ever get discouraged. Especially if it's because you see another band/ worship or whatever enjoy some success. Just always remember why you are doing what you're doing, it's not for worldly fame or anything. Look at Michael Jackson that guy was on top of the world at one point and then the last few years of his life he couldn't catch a break. You don't want this worlds vision of success do you? Whatever you do, do it for the honor and glory of Christ and he'll direct you. 11 of the 12 apostle's were martyred, the world wouldn't call that success but we know that they are on the right hand of the creator of existence.

Re: Christian guitarists, can I get your opinion?
You guys are definitely heading in the right direction. I heard your myspace, I really like your love never fails, don't give up!
I play on a worship team that is just starting and I've played in two others since 2003 when I accepted Christ and I also play in a Christian alternative band, at least I have been since August of '09. I'm leaving the worship team though because our band is moving to Oklahoma the lead singer is going to rhema bible college. Me I'm not exactly sure what I'm going to do, right now I'm leaning towards ORU because they've got a great music program. We're signing with a small label there and so the main reason why I'm going is because I know that God has plans for me that involves music, for me it's an evangelistic ministry and so I'll go wherever I'm called you know?

Re: Christian guitarists, can I get your opinion?
Ya I know. Ultimately I would like to find myself in the middle of a remote village somewhere playing music, evangelizing, etc.
Years ago, when I was 16 this man
http://www.myspace.com/garzarecords
offered me a chance to go on tour with him. The tour would have included shows in some of the larger cities through out Mexico but mostly missions work in the villages.
Ramiro is to this date the best guitarist I have ever had the privileged to see live and far better than most I admire. He needed a lead guitarist so he could concentrate on being the front man.
If I had been the typical stupid teenager I would have jumped on board in a heartbeat but he just happened to approach me while I was sitting next to my very new girlfriend who eventually became my wife. I don't regret my decision, especially when I look at my two daughters, but every now and then I wonder what would have happened if I had taken that opportunity.
On another note. My hopes were realized last night when my singer expressed to me his disapointment with his performance. I think I have him talked into voice lessons. We will probably both go because the tone of my voice doesn’t go well with his and it would be good to kill two birds with one stone.
Anyway, I am sure no one is interested in the drama and details of a band with no name.
Jay
PS - redapemusic, do you have any music posted I can hear?
