country guitarists

anyone know of any instrumental country/bluegrass/etc albums or artists? i'm really digging all those twangy licks and all, lately. i know that vince gill is quite a player, does he have anything that features a lot of his playing? been listening to steve morse's stuff and he's got some great country tunes, i just need some more. thanks for your help

Re: country guitarists

Jerry Reed has some good stuff. One of Eric Johnson's favs along with Chet Atkins. Keith Urban can rock too. Im not much into country but there are some real great players out there that play country.

Re: country guitarists

Also have a look at Tommy Emmanuel and Brad (Buster Jones)

Worth having a look at the woodsongs archive (www.woodsongs.com) - loads of complete videos to download which have loads of those type of players.

As a starter though, go there and grab the Tommy Emmanuel vids - you will definately not be disappointed.

Re: country guitarists

Danny Gatton - not strictly country, but in that vein, with some jazzier elements.

Oh - and you shouldn't forget Leo Kottke - a big amalgum of all sorts of country and bluegrass styles - brilliant

And the only guy who does crazy fingerpicking on a twelve string too.

All great guitarists mentioned so far, and all the early Dregs and Dixie Dregs albums have at least one counrty picking extravagana.

Re: country guitarists

Brad Paisley.

What did Guitar World call him? Oh yeah, "Eddie Van Halen on Cornbread". I'm not into country at all but he has some chops. 2 good instrumentals he has are "Munster Rag" and "Spaghetti Western Swing". Both pretty cool...
