Cover songs you'd like to hear most from a local bands in your area

list 'em:

Erotomania (haha, just kidding. I don't think that would go over well other than at a Dream Theater concert)

I've never heard anyone pull of "Carry on My Wayward Son". That would be pretty sweet.

I'm generally not a fan of bands that do too many covers, but it can be fun to throw in an interesting cover once in awhile to keep the audience's attention.

Led Zeppelin's "The Rain Song" and "The Rover" usually go over pretty well. One of the bands I'm working with does a killer version of "Bennie & the Jets" which always gets a great response. Goofy song, but it rocks! Typically I HATE doing songs that are played constantly on the radio, etc. but that "Bennie" isn't covered too often I guess. It's more fun to do songs that people DON'T always hear

Re: Cover songs you'd like to hear most from a local bands in your area

I'm sick of local bands and cover songs. You goto a show and you hear the same cover over and over again every show. I think if your going to cover songs have a varity of songs that you cover so your not covering the same 3 songs all the time. There is this local band i used to play with called the suits...www.thesuitsmusic.com and they have been playing the same weezer cover since the 8th grade and we are in 11th now....it drives me crazy. The guitarist/singer for that band is a pretty good guitarist, but i was alot better than him and he got mad at me casue my solo was "too good" and that i "stole the show". He thought that its all aobut the singer and so when every one screemed for my solo he got pissed and kicked me out about 2 weeks later. The drummer wanted me in, but their old bassist does everything that the singer wanted so i was out. The drummer kept trying to get them to let me back in, but finally they asked me to sing for them and i turned them down cause i said "sorry bro, but i don't wanna make you feel like **** again when i steel the spotlight" LOL it was mad, but why would i play for a band who kicked me out for being to good besides it was him who told me to improvise all the sudden on stage. Oh well covers=bad...most the time.

Bad Horsie, Tender Surrender, For The Love Of God, Liberty, Dreams, Jump, Love Walks In, Pour Some Sugar On Me, Rock Of Ages, Last Train Home, Cafe Del Mar, and Cliffs Of Dover.

I've never heard a single local band who's played ANY of these songs, and would really like to hear real music for a change (as opposed to the usual nu-metal and pop-rock).

There's a Def Leppard Tribute band called Rock of Ages and they do Pour Some Sugar On Me and Rock of Ages. I've heard lots of bands do Jump.

It says 'local band'. So I'm talking about bands here in Malaysia, not internationally.

I can play for the love of god and Tender Surrender all with no mistakes but remember something our country never really like instrumental rock And being in a band group here you need to play more guns n roses, metalicca ...hmm perhaps, classic rock group songs.. just to be playing in clubs Damn it

Such a pity. Apparently, pop-rock has become really popular in the local music scene.

P.S: I talked to my friend the other day about guitar lessons (he was interested). He was a Simple Plan fan, so I told him that Simple Plan is okay to listen to when you're just listening to it, but to learn to play guitar it's better to learn from the older songs. His reply? 'Are you kidding'?

Sorry this had to be out of topic, but I just had to post it.

I know you aren't local to me; but we are a local band and we play: Liberty - or at least some of it - goes straight into Jump (clever transposing of liberty to make it fit!).

Love walks in - yup; Pour Some Sugar on me - Yup;
Also
Always with me, Always with you; PG's versions of I Feel Love, I Feel the Earth Move and Two Become one; Crazy Train etc etc
