Danger Danger - Revolve

Ok, I'm not huge into CD reviews, but every now and then I like to spread the word when I find something particularly tasty. Steel Panther for example...

Anyway, I've been a Danger Danger fan since the pre-Andy Timmons days. The first two CD's were, I thought really good. After that, and after AT left, it got a little dicey. But their latest release, Revolve, is REALLY good. If you like that early D2 sound, you'll like this one. Good songs, good melodies, good guitar playing. Very hooky songs. I particularly like Dirty Mind, F.U.$, Fugitive, and Keep On Keepin' On.

If you don't like hair metal, don't bother. And don't comment either. But if you like this kind of music, it's worth a listen.

Also picked up the new Lynch Mob CD, and I like it a LOT better than I thought I would from the previews they had out earlier. Glad Oni Logan's back.

hair metal is in my veins LOL
I used to listen to D2 everyday and I played some of their songs.
I'm pretty sure I'm gonna miss AT there still I have to try it.

Yeah, there's nobody like AT, but his replacement, Rob Marcello, is damn good also. Really really good sense of melody in his solos. Think he plays Caparison? If you liked the old stuff, I'd bet you'll be ok with this one.

Got it off iTunes - Good album but not as good as the 1st 2 albums.

Rob Marcello has some great playing but I think generally his style is to play too many notes - virtually everything is mega fast sweep picking

Re: Danger Danger - Revolve

You sure we're talking about the same disc? Yeah, theres some good shred in the solos, but I thought the vast majority of his playing was very fitting for each song. I think the songs are maybe a little different than the early records (more evolved??), but certainly on par with much of the early D2 songs. Still hair band stuff, still D2. Much better than discs like C0ckroach or Gildersleeves, IMHO.

What I mean is that rob can't help having a widdle on the end of most silos which sometimes spoil it. It's the best post timmons d2 album and has some great riffs and catchy choruses to sing along to in the car

Yeah, I'll give you that. Of course, he's got big shoes to fill - maybe he feels like he's gotta throw a little flash in there to keep the AT die-hards at bay.

I am Hair Metal extraordinaire!! They're clean and clog free now but, heroin and Cocaine were the only things in my veins! That and a well packed bag full of Maybelline, and Aqua Net, is the true Hair Metal checklist!

Of course the unwashed sweat laden spandex body suit worn night after night was the clincher...
