Thumbs up

David Gilmour solo album

Just got it today and all i can say is wow! This is music that a lot of these younger bands should strive to achieve. Its well written, well produced and mixed, has great original melodies, its catchy, and most of all has SOUL. Heck, i never knew anything about this until I heard the title track on the radio the other day....on a hard rock station no less. Grab it!

I'd like to get a copy of it, I've always thought David Gilmour had some of the best solos.

Re: David Gilmour solo album

I heard some of it, and it's a good sounding record, but a lot of the compositions remind me of classic Floyd tunes (similar chord progressions) a bit too much. So does his playing as well (which I like a lot), but you can hardly expect him to change his playing style.

Re: David Gilmour solo album

Gilmour is one of the most underrated guitarists ever IMO. The album is great, the floyd influences are definetally there, but gone is The Wall's tortured, mentally unstable sound. Its an amazing album - Definetally a keeper

Yes!!! That's true, sometimes speed isn't everything, I always love players who can fuse between insane speed and some really cool, rythmic, and melodious playing

Re: David Gilmour solo album

Yeah, its a great record!
I bought the CD for my dad, and I have listened to it more than he has! He has a great tone on this record, its nice and "thick" sounding, very warm kinda tone. He can sing pretty good too of course!
