Dimebag originally was supposed to be part of LTE?

I came across this on wikipedia, it would've been interesting.

They would have been a completely different band if he joined.

Dime would never do anything without Vinnie on drums, that's why he didn't join Megadeth when Mustaine asked him.

Could prove tricky at this point.

The new dimevision video that vinnie paul released has some great footage of dimes live solo at different periods before his death. I thought his playing and tone as a whole had improve immensely.

Yeah it was basically whoever they could get their hands on, I bet Mike was dissapointed with the final line up anyway.

I doubt Mike would be. It basically gave him the blueprint of how future DT albums would be created - on the fly without 18 months of writing, re-writing and rehearsing before hitting the studio - and led to Jordan being a part of DT. People debate about how both those factors have affected the quality of Dream Theater's output, but I would put money on Mike not being one of them.

I personally liked the first one they did. The 2nd one seemed to scrape for enough material what with Petrucci not there for half of it while his wife gave birth to one of their children.

Mike and JP have been - and still are - great fans of Dime's playing. The Glass Prison on 6DoIT was "created" in an awe of inspiration after Mike and JP saw a Pantera show, plus when asked who they think is "heavy metal",
both of them replied:" Dimebag".

I love both of the LTE albums, but can't help to think what it would've sounded like to hear that Texas style flowing all over those tracks ...

I saw it as the opposite, like mike wanted to do something different to DT, and I thought the 2nd one was better because JP had less input.
