No one's heard of it? *BLASPHEMERS!
I watch it all the damn time! (kidding)

There's some cool stuff on there, but he doesn't really explain his right hand technique, which is 90% of his speed.

I got mine from CDNow, but they don't seem to have it anymore.
If you need a dub, let me know.

Does anyone have Chris Impellitteri Speed Soloing Video

Got,

I am quite a big Impellitteri fan but I cannot recommend this video a whole bunch. *

1 - Chris does not explain anything.
2 - The speed he plays at no "mere mortals" could ever hope to achieve.
3 - I do not see how any of the licks he played could be used by anyone else other than Chris!
4 - He is totally dull as a presenter.
5 - He used an Yngwie Malmsteen Strat in that video, with the YJM signature on the headstock sanded off.
6 - The intro and outro solos he plays over a baacking track are dangerously close to Yngwie's 'Black Star'.

But:

1 - Some of the faces he pulls are truly hilarious.
2 - His BIG hair will bring a smile to your face.
3 - Most of the licks will make you go "what the ...."!!!
4 - Its a cheap video (at least here in England).
5 - The intro and outro solos he plays over a baacking track are dangerously close to Yngwie's 'Black Star'.

Pile o'crap IMHO. Got it for £4 in a bargain bin in London somewhere. *The unplanned Spinal Tap of guitar tuition videos. Strat110 pretty much summed it up. I would offer to give you the video, but every now and then when I'm feeling like I don't have a right to hold a guitar in my hands, I watch the video and I think "now there's a guy who doesn't actually know why he's playing guitar or where he's going with it."

"...and now here's a useless 3-notes per string lick I can play at this speed... and here's another very similar lick at a higher speed... oh, and look everybody, I can do this one too at this speed... what? It's the same? No it's not, it's a fret higher.... Malmsteen who?... No I'm not constipated, I always look like this when I play... slower schmower... feel? how do you spell that? does it mean faster? Ok, I can do that..."

One trick pony with bad hair (can anyone say Michael Angelo?!). How he got a Sony deal is beyond me.

Kevan, Hong Kong Phooey it most certainly is "... number one super guy"

On the plus side of this video, at least he doesn't forget his name ("Yngwie Malmsteen... Yngwie J Malmsteen, that's very important" *point finger to camera*)
Anyone else convinced that Chris Impellllittttteri is trying a hypnosis trick with his eyes on you whilst playing?

I like it when he bends a note on the *cough* blues licks at the end, notice when he bends a note he this urge to stick his top two teeth out over his bottom lip whilst closing his eyes to make look like his soul is really going into the bend.

Seeing as how I don't want to play solos, haven't for a while... and that almost anyone can play fast if they want, I think it's safe to say jealousy isn't it.

He just *is* that bad.

However, I do find myself wanting a copy of the video... I think I'm missing out on the fun.

Yeah, Chris Impellitteri really is that bad. *

Ok, I am lucky enough to be able to (so far) play pretty much what I want after a few tries and a little practice and so Malmsteen stuff (so far!) is not really a challenge and I copied a few of the Impellitteri licks straight off the video so wishing to have his technique is not really part of the equation.

Malmsteens playing inspires me to try and do what he does technique wise.
Impellitteri's playing makes me want to write a letter of complaint to REH for letting him do a video.
Instead of thinking "hey that was cool. let's try that somewhere" I think "man, where the hell is anyone going to use that, especially when it sounds like the aural equivalent of a dog turd"
Expression (facial, musical, emotional) is totally missing. OK, so it's about speed soloing, but nobody is gonna solo with the crap he puts out. On the flip side of arguing about the title of the video, it's supposed to be a tuitional video and he explains nothing of use.

My tax return is due in 2 days and I'm still messing with it so I think I'll dig this video out for some light relief later.
Maybe someone could take a copy to Jemfest and you could have a comedy evening!

Strat110, are you familiar with the Fast Show? The moment you described could easily be followed with a slightly fazed look and the words "excuse me but I've just come...."

watching guys like him is like meeting someone with upper-class income and white-trash taste. *You find yourself laughing at the way they waste their resources. *You think: *"If I had that much money, I wouldn't spend it on that bull****." *Same with playing. .. you think "If I had all day to practice and all that talent, I wouldn't spend forever playing the Harmonic Minor scale...I'd do something with it "

IMHO, what that guy does (like many others) is pure musical masturbation. No offense to anyone that likes him or whatever, but I *******
hate that type of ****.

I must admit that I generally like his playing a lot in a band context, the video came out from the 'Stand In Line' era where Impellitteri was going for "the fastest guitarist on earth" award - it was the 80's - but even so that album is a big turd, recent albums like 'Eye Of The Hurricane' and 'Crunch' show that he is actually a pretty good songwriter (in the trad metal genre) and his solo do have quite a bit more melody and less speed these days.

He has also ditched the limp thin overly processed tone in favour of something much more organic - Plexi Grunt in conjunction with Soldano Gain.

So there's my view - lame video, but has some good material under his belt.

Spagbol, yes indeed I am familiar with The Fast Show and I cracked up with what you said.

ooo suit you sir!

Does anyone have Chris Impellitteri Speed Soloing Video

"this week I will mostly be playing the fastest guitar on the planet"

I have to admit that my opinion of Chris Impellitteri's playing is solely based on this video (yeah I know, bad idea forming opinions on so little evidence) so maybe I will have a nice surprise when I listen to his playing in a band context.

Wyld Stallyns... still thinking of getting the video?!
