Well, Shawn Lane is by far one of the most underappreciated guitarists ever, so it is tough to fnd info on him. I'm a huge fan myself. These are a few places you should check out:

www.abstractlogix.com - Check out the Hellborg/Lane/Sipe webcasts, especially the Falls Church one. You can also order Shawn's CDs there...

www.shawnlane.org/forum/index.php - Shawn Lane forum, a lot of into there and some great, if insane, people...

www.tarsun.net - All you ever needed to know about Shawn

Well, many people here on Jemsite would have heard about him, and a few would have heard something by him. But even in the guitar community he is nowhere near Satch and Vai in terms of popularity.

Shawn's solo music is different than his work with Jonas Hellborg, which varies between fusion, jazz, rock, and world music. Shawn is great in both settings...

he toured alot in asia with Jonas Hellborg.

he made a few REH instructional videos as well.

First time I took notice of Shawn was in Guitar Player ( 86 or 87 I think)an issue devoted to "the greatest unknown" guitar players. Vernon Reid and Mike Varney wrote some things about him that made me very keen to know more.

I have one of his REH videos somewhere. I got it off Ebay a while back.
It is an insane video, and he had some awesome chops and licks.
He was defenitely one of the greats, and very underappreciated. The guys in Total Guitar Magazine loved him. They put him down as one of the most influential shredders etc. He was a cool guy. I found an insane interview on the net once with him, Im sure I bookmarked it somewhere.
I also had a video of him just shredding away on one of his Vigier guitars. Some of the stretches and licks he could pull off - wow!
RIP dude - He is probably shredding away up there as we speak!

Knew I bookmarked it somewhere. Some of the pics in this interview were quite recent I believe. Just shows what a cool dude he was!

I've unfortunately never seen his CDs anywhere but I was very inspired by an interview with him in a Guitar Player magazine in 1992 (the very first one I bought, aged 14).

Most of his CD's are very rare apparently. They can set you back a few £.
I have seen a few of them go for quite a bit on the old auction site!
