Dream Theater's new CD...Parental Advisory!?
I was just lookin at the info on "Train of Thought", and saw that it was parental advisory. I absolutly LOVE Dream Theater, but I hope they don't dissapoint me on this one, because I hate lots of profanity in music. I appreciate DT for not using much profanity in their music, but I'm worried that the new CD will be full of it, because of the rating

Wow....NOBODY can say they ever expected DT to put out a parental advisory album...
I've found maybe 5 occurances of the word "hell" or "damn" in all their albums....this is suprising.
Of course, if anyone got the christmas promo CD from the DT fan club? a while back, they have a bunch of parodies with a lot of cussing in it from a while back. Or this all could just be misinformation. Who knows, but I'll get that album one way or another.

Hi! Maybe it is the material, and not profanity. Sorta like with Mozart and "Marraige of Figoro?" lol.... Irregardless, can't wait! Nikki

Well, Ryche's Mindcrime had an advisory, and IIRC there was only ONE offensive word; "25 bucks a **** and John's a happy man..."

I'm guessing it's subject matter more than actual bad words. (are there really any "bad" words when Dream Theater's concerned?

Who cares?
I always thought the parental advisory stickers were useless anyway. Try parenting your child; my parents did, and I'm only marginally screwed up
. What a concept.
It's ironic, because you can say some really disturbing things on a CD without swearing, but the moment you use the F word, it's all of a sudden bad.

I've wondered this myself too. How did cuss words become cuss words? What makes saying 'f***' so much worse than 'sh**'?

How words like f*ck and sh*t evolved into cuss words is beyond me. I'm guessing it's because people often use these words in a negative, insulting, and offensive context. Words are words, they really don't matter.
I really hate it when they make the parental advisory sticker a part of the cover art, rather than just a sticker on the cd case. I don't want some stupid sticker to be a part of the wonderful cover art.

I bought a CD recently (don't remember which one) that had the Parental Advisory logo on the back instead of the front cover art. I thought this was a nice start
I would say I agree with the Parental Advisory label so that kids don't buy things with negative lyrics and subject matter, except that half the CDs with the label have it for a couple of occurences of "f***" or something, while things with really inappropriate subject matter for kids (such as sex, drugs, and violence) don't get the label.
Another thing that confused me: "The Bad Touch" by the Bloodhound Gang only has two words censored in the entire song in the music video.
I guess the point of my story is, I shouldn't have to listen to an 8 year old boy singing "Work It" by Missy Elliot in the changeroom at the local public pool

Acutally on 6DOIT, James dropped a "s***" in "Test that Stumped Them All". Though I have to say, they've never been at all excessive with their language.
