Evanescence, Tuesday
Damn this show was excellent!!!! Amy's vocals were perfect, and the performance was just awesome.
They are really growing as performers, and after seeing them a second time I can see that they will go far.
They played nearly their entire album, plus some older, unreleased stuff, as well as a really cool cover of "Zero" by Smashing Pumpkins.
Amy has the most amazing voice I have ever heard, it was just beyond powerful that night, soaring above all the guitars, like a dark angel singing.
I love this band.
Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Wednesday
This show was amazing and unexpected. Why unexpected? They played for over
3 hours, and the whole time, Bruce is running around, laughing, obviously having a great time performing, with the kind of band chemistry that could only come with so many years together.
Bruce cannot be 52, because I've never seen a dude over 50 run across stage, slide on his knees, jump down a riser, etc. Just amazing.
The stagelights went out, so Bruce kept playing, and when it was Clarence Clemons' turn to solo, Bruce got a flashlight and was shining it on him.
Then when that was over, you'd see this bouncing flashlight speed across the stage, back and forth.
When the lights finally came back on, Bruce got on the mic and said "Lights? We don't need no steeenking lights!"
It was an amazing show, one I will never forget.
It's kind of encouraging to see someone not really old per se, but much older than me, still
playing guitar and having a great time with music.
I also never knew Bruce was as good of a player as he is.
He's obviously no shredder, but he's definitely competent.
And damn! Springsteen attracts a very varied crowd, from the older folks to the younger. The younger being mostly women.
It was almost like the Bon Jovi concert I was at a month ago.
