Found a cool jam place for my band

Hey, I thought I'd share this with you guys. Everyone in my band has like no place to play, since we all live in apartment buildings and stuff. So we discovered this place in the town next to us (Southbridge) Its a old HUGE mill that some guy bought and has turned it into a meca for new and upcomming bands. The 2nd floor is a huge bar room/small jam room with open mike nights all the time, and on the 4th floor the owner made tons of small rooms (not really small, like 25'x15') with a adjacent storage room 1/2 the size next to it. These are like apartments for bands, you can play as loud as you like, when ever you like (although playing at 3am is kinda discouraged) and you never have to keep lugging your expensive equipment back and fourth, and of course each one is locked and only the band members and building owner have the key, the place is fully alarmed too. We paid $200 for now untill october 1st ($50/person) and its normally $300/month + $75 month if you want the storage space. Theres also onsite guitar lessons, a full auditorium that holds like 300+ people (3 doors down is actually playing there in a few weeks) and a live feed online stage and DVD production room.

So do you guys think this is worth $75 a month?

Yeah, the production stuff is extra, but its nice to know its there if we want it.

Wow, that's pretty remarkable.... and not just because it seems like every old mill in central Mass is usually converted into condos, wasting space with that kind of potential.

Nice, I would love to jam in a space like that, we jam in my drummer's studio room in his house, it's nice but kinda small. Congrats on the new jam space.

The space is about 500sf which is enough for a 5 piece bad to play comfortably. I was just there all day, I got my legacy to around 7.5 on the dial at 100 watts, pritty much drowned out the 6 piece pearl set, had to turn it down, too much feedback too, could have gone much louder too since I had a delay unit it the loop and its output only at 3 or 4. THe legacy is OK but I might trade it in for something with more gain.

Weird,... I recall getting my legacy up pretty loud. No way there was any complaining about gain ( distortion ) levels..

The gain was OK but not really what I'm looking for. It was good for single note articulation but not for palm muting crunch tones, and I need both (I had the gain at 9 at one point but backed it off to 6 or 7, too much feedback and noise). I'm going to try it with my Jackson when I get it back from the shop, mabie it was just the EMG 707's muddying up the sound. Its also a very noisy amp too when the gains past 6. If i'm still not happy with it I can trade it in for $475 store credit. I might get a POD pro rack and a peavey 50/50.

My band has to practice in the back of a music shop in Carlisle (Upbeat Music) for £20 a night. It's not perfect but there isn't a massive amount of choice up here in Cumbria so we make do. What you've got there looks perfect.

Ah, got it. Indeed, it does have a little problem with palm muted crunch. It's a very specific sound indeed and I can understand it not being your cup of tea. But please nooooo pooooood
Try something real first, A great tubeamp will always sound better than a POD. or look into a split preamp - fx setup.

And if you MUST put them into one package, also check a boss gt-pro for instance, or some rocktron equipment etc.

And to answer your original question: Price is a little steep, but it seems very nice! Storage is good, nice and roomy keeps you practicing longer. And it sounds like a place with atmosphere and a good place to build a network of musicians. Go with it !

Actually my other guitarist was using my old POD 2.0/BBE and the distortion and tone was destroying me. I've always loved my POD. Another reason why I was thinking about the POD pro rack + tube amp was this video

MIke's getting some great tube crunch tones from it plus a marshall 9200 (I think its a 9200, looks like it, could be a 100/100 or 9100 too though)
