i have been playing almost 19yrs and playing the last 13 of them professionally in some form or another. i was in a house band that did classic covers and we also had original cd's together. we played at the Iron Horse Saloon in Ormond Bch, FL and played for the bikers for every event held at the bar (Bike Week, Biketoberfest, opening for Charlie Daniels, Foghat, Rick Derringer, Dr. Hook & the Medicine Show and David Allen Coe who we opened up for nightly). In all those gigs (7yrs worth!!) we never played one Lynyrd Skynyrd song. That is the MOST popular band of the genre and we wouldn't play it and we got away without it. We even got in a fight with Skynyrds original drummer, Artimus Pyle, but that is a story for another day. time moved on and i moved away from Ormond and left the band almost 4yrs ago.
i recently started playing in a classic cover/southern rock/original rock band and am now learning and playing all those Skynyrd songs that i never had to touch before. Funny how things change...'cause i'm actually having fun playing it!!!

Quite a change from all the Heavy rock i cut my teeth on. i even play my Jem7DBK at the gigs, which most patrons find very fitting for the music????

i even get to play Eruption to break into "You Really Got Me". what a blast!!
Cheers!
