Ghosts I - IV

Reznor never ceases to amaze me. I'm in love with this album.

Someone in a thread about it somewhere called this a "soundtrack to daydreams" and I couldn't have come up with anything better to say about it.

36 instrumental tracks, I'm through the first nine or so and loving it.

I love the way he's distributing it too. $5 to download the whole thing, although there's a slew of other options too.

Yay NIN. I <3 you.

Re: Ghosts I - IV

I downloaded the free (authorised) torrent of Ghosts I, and I'm planning on getting the $75 set as soon as I have some bucks in my Paypal.

Ghosts I reminds me of Devin Townsend's "The Hummer" album.

Re: Ghosts I - IV

The business model he's proven is actually really amazing too.

In the first 24 hours of going on sale, the limited special edition boxed set sold all 2,500 units @ $300 USD.

If you do the sums, that's a big bucket load of money in 24hours. With NO RECORD LABEL to pay. No middle man.

Trent created and released an album without any rules. And without any advertising has made more than he does when he tours. He even released the album for free via torrents. Kinda says something about all this crap about p2p taking album sales away.

Brilliant, absolutely brilliant.

Tried downloading this a day or two of release, got the link but kept on cutting out. I will have to try it again. Trent Reznor is a true visionary, and is proving to be a major power for moving away from the traditional dinosaur model of record companies.

$750,000 USD in 24 hours for a special boxed set that was never advertised, with all funds essentially going back to the artist....and an instrumental album that is surprisingly really good!

Record Labels? Who needs them.
