G'N'R MTV OMG!
What a fabulous night!
Guns n' Roses, my favorite band while growing up, finally on TV tonight with Buckethead, my favorite freaked out guitar player of my college years. What a show. I am pumped! They kept that secret until the end.
Axl's voice went a little off, but Buck did some of his tapping in the solo at the end of Paradise City! Buckethead! On MTV!!!
Must calm down. Thoughts?

Man, I was going to watch it but then I figured it was just going to be the usuall b.s. Oh well, I'm sure it will be repeated about 1000 times this week.

Probably not as many times as they showed Avril Lavigne's plumber's butt on Much Music for the next month or so from that performance.

Jesus, axl sucked! I was actually contemplating the fact that it wasn't him! I mean, he's no Pavarotti, but he is good nonetheless! His voice didn't even sound close to what I'm used to.
As for buckethead, nice, but its very difficult to take the spot we all knew slash once filled. Its not that slash is all that (hey, I like the guy), but he defined that band.
Anyhoo, are y'all sure that was axl? Or was that an imposter? It sure looked like him, but didn't sound much like em.

Yup - they just started the show from the beginning again a few minutes ago. Get ye a tape to the ready Mr Bot.
Showing the whole thing from the start again also meant I got to see MJJ on his 44th birthday. Between that, Buckethead and Guns n' Roses, it's almost like MTV is personally trying to make it up to me for stopping playing music videos. Which is what the channel was invented for. Not reality shows and paying over-sunned idiots to eat worms. Don't get me started.

It's already re-running.
I hate to say this, but I thought GNR blew, with exception to the last solo played by Buckethead (during Paradise City), which was passable at best.
How can you call them GNR anyhow? It looked like a cross between Marilyn Manson (NIN guitarist Robin Finck), the Black Crowes (Izzy,) a circus sideshow (Buckethead) and this girl I know who came home from Jamaica with her whole head of hair braided (Axl). This band is almost as funny as the current Ratt line up.
Buckethead is not Slash's replacement. The NIN guy is.
I'm not trying to flame ya, but to me, GNR was burned out when UYI came out. That's not to say that the old stuff isn't good, it still holds up well IMHO.
The highlight of the evening was seeing The Vines, who I am quickly becoming very fond of.

Guns n Roses has always been my favorite band, so this was a crucial moment in my life
Personally I think Axl has to practice a lot more, to reach the same range that he had in the early 90's, but what the hell!! Axl teached all the new bands what rock and roll is REALLY about!

Now someone needs to teach Axl what rock-n-roll is really all about. I liked G-n-R as much as everyone else in high school when they first came out, but Axl just wasn't having his A-game last night.
Buckethead was fantastic, though. Then again, I've always liked Buckethead.

I think they had some song in the End of Days soundtrack... if I remember correctly... didn't care much for it. Old GnR was ok, but now... <shiver> If this is paradise city, someone please kick me the hell out.

Bands should call it quits when the there is only one original member left. I am sorry, burry the hatchet between original members and then continue as GNR or burry the name and start a new band.

Saw it, felt mixed about it. Although they(the original lineup) is my favorite band, but I thought last night was sort of a sad act. There was no real since of pride to the music last night and they showed it, I mean Axl should know good and well that all it would take is a phone call to Slash at any point and he would jump right back in. Slash said the reason for him leaving the band(with the others following) is musical direction changes. But there seemed to be a newer song in between Welcome to the Jungle and Paradise City, and to me, it sounded like the song was written with the older GN'R sound in mind. So if Axl has any common sense about him, he will be making some phone calls and quit with the mock-up band of a lifetime.

That song's called Madagascar, its really a good song, they have played it in their last couple of shows....
Yeah, we all miss the older band, but I don't think Axl is gonna call the guys any of these days (we all know the size of his ego)

yeah its too bad, its worse than DLR, axl totally lost his voice, but its good to see a real band finally performing at the second biggest music thing of the year.
