ok so they use the exact same people every year just in different order, so WHY DOES THE LIST CHANGE? did Toni become better than everyone else last year?

screw this, Kurt Cobain is number one!

There are only a handful of actual heavy metal guitarists on the list. Shouldn't it have just been the best rock guitarists of all time? ac/dc?.... ya that is heavy metal man. And why isn't megadeath right behind metallica? That seems stupid.

Interesting list

So CC Deville is a better metal player than both Vai and Nuno?????

Kirk Hamett is better than Vai, Nuno, Satch, Page, Blackmore.......

Really???

Okay i think i have a theory on this list

Vai is not a metal player but has some tunes that can fall into the category, that is why he rates so low on this list. As for players like kirk and james, and tommy, well the majority of stuff they play is metal.

Not every song an artist plays falls in the same, 'rock', 'metal', or 'pop' category, so the songs that the artists write in each category are what they are judged on. I love vai more than any other guitarist but i think
james hetfield and kirk hammet are better metal players.

So on a different list such as, best creative guitarist, vai may well rank in the top 3 if not 1st

Just my concept anyway
(the lists are crap)

that goes for most other bands too...it should be 'rock guitarists' , muppets
"I Want It All" is pretty heavy, and their first albums were Sabbath-heavy.

Yeah but i wouldn't call it 'metal' by a long way. alot of bands bring different types of albums now and then , for example , Metallica - St Anger , but would you class Queen as a metal band ? I certainly wouldn't... nor would any die hard queen fan

All these lists are stupid. No two people are going to agree on the same list. It is all opinion. My opinion is that the top three should be:

1. Metallica
2. Megadeth
3. Yngwie

But, no one else is going to agree with it. And no one else is going to agree with anyone elses list if they made one. It is like having a top 100 list for the hottest women in the world.

I saw that list too and laughed. May as well consider Jethro Tull metal, once again...
