these lists are always crap, but to put Nigel Tufnell on there is stupid. Especially above some wonderful guitar players. Come on, Nigel Tufnel a better metal player than John Petrucci???

I love Spinal Tap, but to put a fictional character on there is wrong.

These lists are humerous (nothing more) but to the general public, Nugent has more catchy and hum-able tunes and riffs than Vai. For example, you could play Cat Scratch Fever or Free for All on an amusement park ride and not annoy patrons... glen

# 77???

I agree too, but to put Satch at number 77??? One of the things that really makes him popular to a diverse audience is his "catchy" melody lines. Other than a lot of his crazy, noises he gets out of his guitar, which are very cool, when I think of Joe, I think of melody.

Oh well....

simply laughable.

kirk on 2nd place...it certainly is mind boggling.

I´m looking forward to Guitar Players readers poll.
Supposed to be announced in April if I´m not mistaken.
A list all based on the readers view. But I don´t expect too much...lists like this tend to blow.

Hmm, when you approach it as a list of guitarists who had an influence on metal guitarists, it makes a bit more sense. However I think Kirk Hammett gets way too much attention to the point of overshadowing the mighty James Hetfield.

definatly one of the best lists Ive seen. Granted there are a few people on there that shouldn't, and the order is a little off.

But most lists I come across (from magazines like rolling stone) are utter crap. This one at least had a large percentage of people who are actually talented. Alexi Laiho is not mentioned very often, even though he wails.
