Have you ever....

Have you ever got rid of a piece of musical gear, and now could kick yourself in the ass for it??

What was it?

This probably isn't the correct place for this thread. It'd probably be better under "Gear and Equipment"

The only pieces of gear that I truly regret selling are a nice all-original January '64 pre-CBS Strat and a JS3 "Donnie". The other 300 or so guitars over the years were just tools. Those two were unique and different though.

Yep. There are 2 guitars I have missed.

1. I regretted selling my BC Rich Warlock NJ 7-string (modded with EMG707s & a D-Tuna) 3 years ago. It played so wonderfully, but I was in the market for a Universe at the time. HOWEVER, I just made arrangements to buy it back from the guy I sold it to, so it'll be back in my hands later this week. METAL, BABY!

2. I've regretted trading an RG7620 that I had customized by Universal Jems (Becalvert on Jemsite). I've owned NUMEROUS 7620s in the past, but none played or sounded like this one. It started off as a black 7620, but the following mods were applied...
a. a set of EMG707 pickups
b. a JPM style control layout
c. the body & headstock were painted white ala the UV7PWH
A former bandmate had a brand new UV777BK that had been modded by Steve Vai's guitar tech at Berklee. He offered to trade the guitar straight up for my 7620. I flipped & did the trade right there. Flash forward to a year later...the Universe gets stolen from my vehicle & so I'm on the hunt for a new guitar. At the same time, the former bandmate (which I hadn't talked to in a year) decided to sell the guitar to a local music store. A friend informed me that he had seen the guitar there a week ago, so I immediately called the store to see if it was still there. Unfortunately, the guitar was sold 2 days before I called. Oh, how I miss that guitar. It was the best Ibanez I've played.

During my bouts of GAS, I've traded away a black '73 hardtail Fender Strat and a natural mahogany '79 Gibson Flying V.

I'd give my left nut to have both of those back.

My 70's block MXR Phase 90. I sort of regret selling my RG 7421 because I liked the neck but fixed bridges don't do anything for me.

I regret selling my old RG550 that had two-tone paint job. I miss that thing like mad. I think it had sentimental value that I didnt recognise at that time. It was probably because it was my first Ibanez. But it just looked soo cool too, and I had DiMarzios in it which I couldnt be bothered to remove!

I know its only an RG550 but it just played so wonderful. The neck had the right blend of laquer and wood, without being too much of either. And the neck on it was the thinnest thing ever.

I have had 2 RG550s since (which I still have) that just arent the same.
They are still nice though.....
