Yes i have, a lot.

I didn't just buy them , give a listen, think "that ain't no SWTA" and dismiss it.

People need to remember, music is an entertainment, not a competition or a proving ground. When done well it is also an art form.

He doesn't need to bring anything "new to the table", as this comment can ONLY refer to technique. He brings new SONGS to the table with each album.

Satch is one of the most pure and honest musicians around. I hope he always stays that way.

You know he was such a gifted songwriter, but people dismiss him because he was not the atypical 70's looking guy. Remember when the Washington wives led by Tipper Gore headed up the P.M.R.C. John Denver was there in Congress bashing them for wanting to censor stuff..."Shanghai Breezes" is one of my all time favorite songs. That park must be awesome to behold...

Why do you keep bringing up SWTA? I never said anything about Satch having to stay in the 80's and produce another SWTA. To summarize my posts, in case you missed my point, it sounds like Satch is recycling old ideas. He may be incorporating new styles into his playing, but it still sounds like something he's done before.

I think it is funny how folks will criticize/say that Joe is “rehashing” old stuff. Can any of us do any better over a 25+ year span and have the same success?

That's a typical response when trying to leave honest feedback about anything. People always point the finger and say, "can you do better?" as if everybody is only allowed to say something good and not form their own opinions.

i don't think it's fingerpointing, but more of a legitimate question. satch has had like what, 15 studio albums? i would have a hard time not sounding repetitive after a quarter of his output. his style is instantly recognizable and that is his gift and his curse.

I understand that. What I don't get is why opinions are only acceptable if they're positive? When I record a piece of music and post it online I always ask for advice, comments, and criticism. I'm not going to better myself with a bunch of, "Sounded great!" comments.

The people with that mindset need to wake up and realize life isn't fair. I'm not trying to sound like an ass, but anyone should know that's true.

Well I wrote that more in a tongue in cheek kind of way. Opinions are like @ssholes, everyone has 'em and they all stink!

See my opinion is Vai is the best! A lot of people here think it's Govan, Petrucci, or Satch. None of it means anything...

I know it's all subjective, but there's always people who try to claim that someone else's opinion is wrong.

I'm listening to Prof Satch, I think he's just trying to broaden his audience and he's now going after the NPR crowd.

Re: Hey Satch, whats the deal?

A friend of mine bought the album and let me borrow it for a night, I wasn't impressed.

I think that Crystal Planet is his best album.
