I dont know any girls that will be impressed by some1 playing fast
they are more impressed by simple basic chords that make up some known song

Different girls like different things
I'm a pathetic player, but...it hasn't hurt my success with the ladies any. I think they just like to see the fingers fly. Plus, if it opens the door to possible "lessons", well...I've had a lot of fun "teaching".

LOL I was going to try to avoid the discussion of teaching "fingerings", but...it's unavoidable!

You must be kidding!! You're awesome. Love your versions of Vai's & Satch's songs.

That's a great thing about Davester though...he's a frikin' great guitarist but doesn't go on and on about it.
Nothing is more admirable- wish more people were like that in general.

I still fail to see why being 15 has so much to do with it. Anyone remember thomas mcrocklin? And I don't know her name, there I watched some little japanese girl play piano on TV one night, she was 7 years old or something and HOLY CRAP, she smoked!!!!!! I hadn't seen fingers move that fast in a LONG time.
I think that some people play the age card a little to much, I did too, so I can't hold it against you, but then I look back at what I did when I was 16, and I'm not so impressed anymore LOL

I believe in regards to the age thing, it's more about maturity than anything. I know I can honestly say when I was 14 and I first learnt how to play a bunch of Hendrix songs from beginning to end, I thought I was the most amazing guitarist in the world!
I was pretty naiive back then, as I had never even heard of Steve Vai,
Joe Satriani
,
Tony MacAlpine
, etc. I think really it boils down to gaining life experience and growing as a person and musician.
But I believe atleast once in our lives as musicians, we have thought much higher of ourselves than we really were at the time. I can honestly say I have. I can almost gurantee when Mr. Satch Boogie gets a little older and wiser, he'll look back on this thread and be like "What was I thinking?".

Ok. I've had it. I can't take this "I'm not worthy" sheite anymore. So, here it comes:
I pretty much rock! I have a great tone, great touch, my phrasing's getting better day by day and I am bloody musical. I also have a good knowlegde of modes and harmony, pretty good ear and way better than average sense of style and dynamics.
Just gimme a few quiet years of study and practice and I'll make you all cry!

I am terrible. I used to think I was good, but that was before I got better. The older I get, the more I know I have farther to go.

I have deceptive speed and agility on the fretboard........
....I'm even slower than I appear.
