Exactly my thinking. I do however torture neighbours with my playing every day and I'm a heck of a lot better than I was, say, 2 years ago, but I guess it's just that "Bruce Lee" thing coming down on me - a punch is not a punch anymore. If 2 years ago I could play things I can play now, I'd be in heaven. Now that I can play them, I hear all those little mistakes, going out of time, my fingers touching other strings in a legato run... Another thing is, I listen to other players' playing totally differently now - I hear they don't make these mistakes. It just drives me crazy.

Amen! That's exactly how I feel... except change the '2 years ago' to '12 years ago'.

I'm game -- I guess I suck too! Been playing for over 20 years and still practise for hours every day -- but I suck! Somehow, I've managed to fool people into thinking I can play!

Seriously, if any of us were pleased with the status qup of our playing, then we'd stop growing as artists/players.

What's all this guitar stuff?

I thought this was the Jay Ratkowski fan club forum?

Me neither. I've given up music and become a banjo player.
