I MET JOE SATRIANI !!!!! yesterday meet and greet

sorry no pics, as i couldnt bring a camera. they did take pics of me and joe but i dont get them til the end of the tour.

wife got me the gold package and they upgraded me to the platinum package. i got to the venue (the uptown theatre kansas city) at 345 pm. they let me in at 4. there were only 3 of us to meet and greet joe satriani. that meant i got to talk to joe for almost 45minutes!!!! the other two ppl admitted before joe arrived that they were bigger gilbert fans. that left me as the big man the big fan with all of the questions!!!

we talked about the squares stuff. there maybe a video out in the future. the recorded stuff from the squares wasnt on the best of media but is being toyed with by eric cadueax. they are also re releasing a remastered 20th anniversary of surfing with the alien. there will be a 20th anniversary JS model from ibanez. He mentioned something about graphics on it. I was more hoping for something with a flamed maple or quilted maple and mahogany mix but joe will be joe. we talked about life on the road and jet lag etc.

He signed my guitar, a 1988 or 89 540 radius- the one his guitar was based on. he also went over what was changed from my guitar to his current JS model. It was cool that he was like pointing all these things out on my guitar. I was very impressed by how down to earth joe was. very approachable and very open. we talked about what songs he wouldnt play live, and about which songs worked really well live. we talked about the stolen guitars. and about the botched sting to get the guitars back. it was sweet. I wish that it could have went on but.... jon iverson (great guy) and used to be a nurse so we had alot to talk about, then led us to the stage we said bye to joe and then went to see his guitars. this didnt last long and joes tech was workign on one of the chrome boys! as we left i quickly ran back and asked for a pick and he gave me one (how cool). joe also signed one of the G3 promo papers for me!

All in all a great experience. well worth the money for an 18 year FANatic.

i may have left some stuff out go ahead and shoot away with the questions!

awesome..did he talk about vox making him a wah wah pedal....anything about the dimarzio mo joe pickup?...great you got to meet joe and thanks for sharing

didnt mention it. (vox that is)

he did mention that all his guitars have the paf joe and mo joe combo.

no he didnt mention the type of graphic but he did mention about how they got graphics on the colossol guitars,

there is a fan who is a baker and knows how to put pictures and stuff on cakes and he showed them how to put graphics on curvy top guitars....

interesting.......

again i was kinda disappointed it wont be some flamey top guitar.....

Really? I was hoping for more graphics instead of the flame guitar. But, it's all opinion and depends on what graphics come out. The flame guitar is cool looking.

That is interesting about the colossol guitar. Great story.

Is it not obvious why Joe shaved his head? It's something I may do myself when the hair goes.

I just need to find where he gets all those cool slick caps.

It was posted here not long ago but I can't recall the name of the thread,
anyway he said the reasons why he did it is because he was going bald and his hair was sometimes getting in the way so one day he just went and shaved it all off and felt a lot better and he never looked back! (or so he says!)
