No- I just think you don't understand that not everyone is going to agree with you. Your point is seen, but a bunch of people are choosing to disagree. None of this is up for debate as some sort of quantifiable / factual thing - e.g. who is the 'best'. So while he has talent, I believe there's always someone better. Music and composition are subjective things to like or dislike, and his compositions are frankly nothing special IMO. Can he play a mean guitar? Sure. Has he got massive skills? Yep. But I'm not elevating him to genius status in my head.

Well, I see YOUR point, and I wholeheartedly disagree, while music is an art and often a subjective phenomena, there are also musicians/composers whose talent one simply can't deny, despite what you think of the persons attitude or body mass. There are musical criterias forged trough centuries, and to see you all look away from that because the person is not interesting in the way guitarists has been the last 20 years is sad.
The problem with Yngwie is that he's not handling his instrument like an average guitar hero, rather like a classical instrument. His understanding for it is that of the most virtoustic violinist. I have a very close relationship with the gothenburg symphony orchestra, since I have studied for several of the violoinists there, and everyone from there whom I have spoken to about Yng completely agrees with me. About his composing, are you aware that he has written a full concerto suite? This piece has received outstanding reviews in the classical press, though it has been somewhat dissed on guitar/hardrock press. But this only further proves me right.
I'm fully aware that some/most of you will never agree with me about Yng's genius from your musical point of view. I'm so full of myself that I'm about to burst! In fact, I'm almost as bloated on my own ego that I'm nearly as rotund as Yngwie. I'm not trying to say that you aren't entitled to your opinions, I'm just trying to suggest to you that your opinions might actually be based upon ignorance to centruries of musical tradition.

an amazing statement
Olof-this arguement isnt going anywhere.
Arrogant assumptions or suggestions about other peoples intelligence, education and perspectives when you have absolutely no information about the education of people on this board are out of order.
Music isnt a competition.
People like different stuff and have different opinions.
