Jason Becker documentary released

Not sure if it's been discussed here as I haven't been a regular for quite awhile, but this has finally been released. It's actually done very well and is quite inspirational. From my understanding the proceeds go to assist in Jason's medical expenses.

I submitted the documentary for the Australian, melbourne international film festival, which was the only way to see it sooner, but it didn't get picked, so iv waited forever and still cant see it...

Yes I had to go that route too, not happy about it but not much to do otherwise...it was nice, a friend of mine actually cried when watched it.

I saw it I loved the first 40 minutes which were before he got sick. The rest was very sad and depressing to me. Maybe cause there is no getting better from ALS. It is amazing he is still making music though. He has a strong drive to make music!!

Yeah im normally crafty that way but i really wanted to pay for it this time round.. Its taken ages and i still cant see it

I watched it this morning. It is great. I laughed at some parts and had tears in my eyes at others. The last part was sad, but it also is inspirational. Just seeing how Jason and his dad compose songs was amazing. The 45 minute bonus interview with Marty Friedman was very informative. I hope that the sells from this DVD help Jason and his family.

In the early 90's I remember reading an interview he did in Guitar For The Practising Musician.

I think the documentary was mentioned way back then. I remember at the time I really, really wanted to hear and see him play. But this was before youtube, and the internet. And I'm located in Australia where we had to order Steve Vai music in, because no store stocked it. So Cacophony, or Jason Becker would've been met with blank stares, and "I'll have to contact our distributor to see if they've ever heard of it".

Even reading his words on the page was moving and inspirational. I can't imagine what this documentary will be like. I've now ordered it (from Amazon...no need to deal with ignorant retailers in Aus anymore). Hopefully comes soon in the new year.

It's on TV her in the UK on the PBS America channel at 9pm on the 5th of January 2013.

This documentary is phenomenal in my opinion. It was just amazing to see Jason rise so rapidly and then it all gets taken away with one trip to the doctor. Jason is the meaning of the word 'inspiring' he has never let the disease beat him mentally which is just amazing. The communication technique his dad invented is genius I really enjoyed watching how well they can communicate with Jason through this system. Jason's mum, dad and support team are beyond great. And ultimately Jason's guitar playing at his peak is just mind blowing, by the time he was 21 he had surpassed every great guitarist at that time in technique and speed, Perpetual Burn literally burnt my a$$, everything is just so fast yet executed with such precision and its so fluid, he is phenomenal and if you haven't heard his stuff check him out now lol. In the end this documentary is pretty sad but its also uplifting and inspirational that at times you forget about the awful ALS behind all this heartache, Not Dead Yet- is a must watch for anybody I think, it leaves you with a whole new perspective on life.
