John Butler Trio

Anyone else heard of these guys? Amazing stuff from what I've heard. I've only heard one song so far but I'm downloading one of the bootlegs of a recent show from his site and can't wait to hear more. Really cool stuff though, very neat.

Yeah, awesome bluesy acoustic slide player, with dirty hair and a goatee that probably has its own ecosystem going on.

My brother got me the album, Sunrise Over Sea. Great stuff, really big sounds in places. The best songs are the first on, and 'What You Want'.

The beauty of blues is that it's by the people, for the people. John Butler has something to say about some policies he sees as unjust, so he says so. It's his music and his blues so I don't see any problem in him politicising his own songs.

i saw these guys at the Bonnaroo Music Festival 2001 in Tennessee. they were pretty good, for being a bunch of ausy hippies

but really, i did enjoy the show, and usually look for their material in music stores when i have extra cash to burn.

it's just a shame whenever a muso gets political, its often so overly left-wing...

I haven't listened to any John Butler Trio, but I hate it when I'm listening to a perfectly good song, and then they have to say something that offends me/makes me angry, whether it be on politics, religion, morals, etc.

I wouldn't say John Buter's opinion is wrong, I just think music should be uplifting and not focus around issues that divide everyone.

Sorry for sorta hijacking that question, Kasper. Feel free to shoot out your opinion as well!
