John Petrucci... alternate tuning
What tunings does he use? I heard something about C... is that open C tuning or is that C standard?

Re: John Petrucci... alternate tuning
I'd imagine it's just everything dropped two whole steps, or possibly everything dropped one whole step with the C dropped two steps.

Re: John Petrucci... alternate tuning
Yeah everything down 2 full steps.
He doesn't always use that tuning though.
He used C tuning the whole time on the "Train of Thought" album. But usually, his 6
string guitars
are tuned in standard (with a few exceptions when he uses Eb or D)
He does use 7 string tuned to standard, and also uses a
baritone guitar
tuned to A.

I thought it was only C tuning on As I am and Honor thy father.
Pretty sure This dying soul is 7 string standard, and Stream of Conciousness is Eb
Mostly i think he uses 6 strings to standard like Airguitar already said, the odd song is drop D tuning also which i think has been missed i.e. Home, ITPOE

Re: John Petrucci... alternate tuning
He's used a few over the years.
I believe at the moment, he's using EB's RPS Slinky's in 9-42 for standard tuning, and 11-48 for C tuning. For the 7 string's he uses 9-56.
He does change strings gauges fairly often though, i read somewhere that as the tour goes on, he tends to use thicker strings as his fingers get stronger from playing so much every night.

Re: John Petrucci... alternate tuning
But I saw him blinking at the stage !
Maybe it was some modelling program ?
Is he a modelling of a man ?
See that's why I hate modelling stuff

Re: John Petrucci... alternate tuning
Its not related to tunings, but when i saw Dream Theater in June he kept running round the back of his rack and his tech would spray something onto the neck.
I know waters not reall good for the neck so i doubt it was that, you know what it was?
Or i could ask when i go to see then in Manchester again next month
