I don't know, its scary though. It doesn't mention anything about him being a famous guitarist so I would think it's just another guy named John Petrucci. I hope not.

I wouldn't recommend doing that - it could be pretty traumatic for some people. It's a small world - I remember how many people I know had met or known Dimebag and were personally affected by his death, and that's just in one city on the other side of the world. If you go making hoax death notices, the odds are extremely high that somebody could be pretty traumatised.
