Kiko Loureiro

Anyone here heard of him? He is the guitarist for Angra. I recently bought a Young Guitar magazine through **** with a dvd of Mattias Eklundh, Kiko Loureiro, and Eric Sardinas. Kiko is pretty sick...there was a few improvised (atleast it seemed to be improvised) demonstrations and seriously there were some chromatic runs in there that would make you say petrucci who? He has some serious skills. I'm not sure how versatile he is though, seems like he is 100% shred only. Anyone know anything else about him?

I just found out about this guy just now, when I was looking at the ESP signature axes (Japan). That's it, I'm afraid.

Kiko a mindless shredder?! ROFL Yopu are completely off-track dude, he's really versatile trust me. Get his solo album No Gravity, you won't be disappointed!

Sorry maybe you misunderstood me. I said he was a shredder, but I never said he was a MINDLESS shredder. There is a big difference no? I was just wondering if he played any other styles (which I will find out when I get his cd.) Trust me I saw his skills on the DVD. His website also lets you hear 3 songs of his new album.

You know what I like about his playing? A lot of fast players tend to just blaze up and down scales and leave it at that...but Kiko was alllll over the place playing some really complicated things instead of the usual things other players do. When i saw the TABS in the magazine I was like whoa that's tough. But it all sounds amazing too! and his improvising was great.

Kiko's a great guitar player. Also got two of his VHS instructional videos in addition to the Young Guitar one. Guy's got great technique, interesting ESP signature model too. Unfortunately I've never seen him make use of his 27 frets.

Re: Kiko Loureiro

Kiko is an amazing guitarist, and I love his stuff in Angra. Their last album was especially great, with excellent guitar-work. He's really versatile, as he can play some flamenco-esque stuff (check out "Shadow Hunter" from Temple of Shadows...I'm not sure if it's him or Rafael Bittencourt playing there). His ESP sig is awesome too...scalloped frets, neck-thru, AND a killer flamed maple top. *drool*

Re: Kiko Loureiro

He is amazing... Saw him do 8 finger tapping... clean with bass line, melody and chords... beautiful.. there's this soul in his playing, something that many shredders lack...

Btw, I thought he used Tagima guitars? His signature K1 and K2 guitars... both 27 fret... Isn't the ESP model something like a 1 off custom for him?
