King's X October 21st

I'm planning on getting together with a friend and goin to check out King's X at a local show on the 21st.

Has anyone here seen them live before? It should be a pretty intimate show cause the place they are playing at is not a big venue at all.

They'll rock your world bro! They are a great live band, have fun.

*edit* I just looked up their tour dates, 10/21 is at Gatsby's in Johnson City, I grew up in Kingsport and went to ETSU, my brother is still in K-Town, I'll have to tell him to try and check it out. Hopefully they will make it out to the Denver/Boulder area this year.

Have you checked out CattleAxe? Pretty good cover band, I used to run around with Tom some when I was in college (dating myself here), then ran into him a few times after he joined Jackyl and I started moving around.

Take care, enjoy the show,
Roger

Yeah, I've spoken to Tom a couple of times and I've seen Cattleaxe once too, great cover band.

I'm about three hours out of the tricity area (Johnson City, Kingsport and Bristol) but it's the closest place to get good gigs at so my band has had almost all our shows there.

I've seen them MANY times, and it's always an awesome show. King's X is just an incredible band. Have you picked up "Ogre Tones" yet?

Re: King's X October 21st

I haven't gotten it yet. I have a strange love for King's X. They are one of those bands that I would listen to really heavily for a while and then drift away from, then one day months or a year later pick them back up and as my wife says "drive her crazy listening to them". But since the first time I heard them they have always been one of those bands I recommend to people.

Re: King's X October 21st

Very good band, I wanted to see them here in Montreal a year ago or so, but the show got cancelled due to poor presale and the management decided it's not worth it to cross the border. Needless to say, I was one of the few who did get their tickets in advance...

They are one of Rock's unsung heros and who knows how long they'll be around. They've influenced a number of other bands from Megadeth and Alice in Chains to Dream Theater (Doug Pinnick guest vocals on Lines in the Sand from Falling Into Infinity)

It's amazing if you've got even one of their albums, how many of their songs stick in your head (mine, anyway)
