What the hell is wrong George? That is some sad sad solo playing IMHO. The track itself was cool though.

Cool

Re: Kiss of Death Guitar Duel w/ G Lynch and 3 other guys

I would have to agree to some extent with your assessment, he used to have more fire and cooler licks and phrases in the past but it's still cool.

Yeah, george just keeps playing the same things over and over. gus g's and the guy w/ the red strat are the only interesting ones, imho.

Re: Kiss of Death Guitar Duel w/ G Lynch and 3 other guys

Yeah, the first thing that hit me is that guy on the right with the candy red strat wanted to be Malmsteen, which is sad, because Malmsteen is already Malmsteen. He did nothing original.

I think George's problem is that he used to be a "raw" player. I think he's gotten too much in to lessons and theory and lost it.

The guy with the white flying V was another Malmsteen wannabe.

Gus G was the only interesting one to me.

Gus G is the man!
Good to see him getting around playing with guys like Lynch. To me, Gus G is probably the most under-rated guitar dude out there at the moment. What he can do is amazing. Great vid, I really enjoyed it!

Why do I get the feeling like George Lynch is playing off key in some parts? The Jpanese dudes are way better in their execution. Still a cool video

Re: Kiss of Death Guitar Duel w/ G Lynch and 3 other guys

it's george on a bad day. i saw him at the guitar show in march and at a club in ft worth last november and he was utterly amazing, rhythm guitar and lead. he has a style that no one can copy and that is instantly recognizable. this vid unfortunately doesn't show it.

supposedly he is releasing an instrumental cd soon tentatively titled 'strung out'. but george is sometimes his own worst enemy. he makes bad decisions that are based on short term gains imo. the cd was supposed to come out this summer, but he just got married, so i'm sure newly marital bliss is pushing the project out a bit.

I saw George Lynch open for Yngwie a couple of years ago and I was very disappointed.
