Korn Has Gone Rap....

I'm NOT a Korn fan, but know their style- and it ain't Rap....until now.
MTV had a "new" video that was soooo pathetic I coul'nt believe it. All the guys look like dogs with human faces.

Interesting video concept, but terrible RAP music played by a metal band doesn't cut it.

Very unimpressive.....

Not to be picky, but Cameo (the original band to do "Word Up") was much more of a funk/r&b group, than a rap group. That's like saying Rick James or Barry White were rappers. What Korn did was to make the song their own, so any rap edge was Korn not Cameo.

The dog angle for the video is great. Much more creative than most coming out.

Cheers,
Butch

I love the song and the video. And they don't really rap at all. They sing, just like in the original, there's just not much of a melody to it.

Good call. If this is news to anyone, they haven't paid attention at all. For example: "Children of the Korn" featuring Ice Cube, "All In The Family" feat. Fred Durst, "Cameltosis" (can't remember who this is featuring). And that's just off "Follow the Leader".

Korn goes rap? That's about as big a headline, as "The Sky is Blue", or "Grass is Green"...

Funny, I HATED Korn when they first came out(I first saw them on the Megadeth/Suicidal tour), but I learned to really dig what they do.

I guess Head and Munky had to re-learn their instruments because prior to this tune they only played 2-note "chords" on 7 strings.

Seriously, I'm about as far-away from this band as you can run and was just commenting on the video. I love the dog theme though. Pissing in the guys shoe was great. I don't like the music, but at least they have a sense of humor with the videos.

relearn? ahaha.. maybe its time to get funky for korn! i havent seen the video though but the older korn vidoes always have two impressions in it for me, rejection and violence.

I somehow knew this would turn into the old "I hate/love Korn" scenario.
Whether your a fan or not, it dont really matter. They are good at what they do, and have been doing it well for a good while now. They have their place, and at least they are true to what they do. They never "veer" off and try to be different that much. They just stick to some good heavy riffs on the ole 7 strings!

And as others have said, this isnt really extravagent news is it. They have done a few things like this in the past.
Korn will always have a place in my CD player for when I feel like.........some Korn!

This thread will die soon, I'm sure of that. It's been against forum rules since post one.

And Korn has done way more than (2 note chords on a 7-string). Try to know what you're talking about before you make outrageous claims.

Calm down! I respect the band and I'm just having some fun at their expense. My point was suprise at the remake and strong video.

I wish I was as successful as they are!

I'd disagree with that, it's NOT against the forum rules to say that you don't like korn or that you think their new video is rubbish. We 're all allowed to express opinions. Some guys take it too far, but it's hard to get over your negative point about something without either saying "it sucks" so to speak or utilising vocabulary similar to that which would perhaps be used by a gathering of British gentlemen discussing the merits and/or flaws of certain particular aspects of current music all whilst enjoying a glass of sherry.

I'll check back on this thread every once in a while in case it doesn't die, and people DO start to flaunt the rules.
