Living Colour - Vernon Reid (going thru the old cds)
I just thru in Vivid from Living Colour and still can jam the crap out of this CD.. Very melodic band.
I totally forgot "Open Letter To A Landlord"
good song and the chorus is so simple yet its just killer it works beautifully..
listening to this kinda brings the old cliche "Less is more sometimes" dont need a billion notes to make a tune stand out..

Re: Living Colour - Vernon Reid (going thru the old cds)
Hey, Living Colour are one of the coolest and most important bands EVER.
Good thread. God bless LC. I got to see them live back in 93 (matter of fact I have a very nice quality recording of it) and they were immense. One of the best bands I've ever seen. Favourite album = Time's Up.

Time's Up is a classic, probably my favourite as well. In fact, I would say LC is my favourite band - great songwriting and musicianship and they sound amazng both live and on records. I only saw them live once, but got to chat with the band backstage, and they are really great down to earth guys who truly care about their fans.

Re: Living Colour - Vernon Reid (going thru the old cds)
Indeed. Without wishing to namedrop, my eldest brother knows Doug. He once told me that he bought Doug a blowjob for his birthday in Geramany. LOL... I never found out if it was true but I had to share that with you.
But speaking of LC's bass players, I miss Muzz. I'd like to hear his current band (Medicine Stick, I think they are called) but they don't seem to have released anything. He's on guitar now, too.

I have always been a fan of
Vernon Reid
. He is one of my favorites. Living Colour is what sparked my interest in him back in 1989 when Cult Of Personality was blaring on the radio station, still to this day, a great song from a great album. It is probably my favorite solo to play too. I really like VR's solo stuff too. It's awesome.

You can play the time-space-warping CoP solo? Respect...

Thanks. Yeah, I learned it a few years ago when my band decided it was time to play it live, a great song to play too, everybody loves it.

Great band, great album, great song and solo!
Regarding Vernon's ESP guitars, I almost bought a copy of one his
customs
(the white with neon green/blue/pink splashes if you don't click) from the ESP
Custom Shop
when it was on 48th St in Manhattan, but didn't in the end as the neck was so thick. It was that big neck like the N4 has, almost all the way to Nocaster land; lots thicker than a Wizard. That 'Living Color' album is amazing though, I need to find it now!

Wasn't there Vernon ESP on the bay a few months back?

Vernon rules, CoP rules!! GREAT thread. One of the most talented bands ever, and their music is timeless, you could re-release one of their singles today and it would still sound fresh. By the way, Flobanez, you can play the solo to CoP?!?! Good God man, respect.

Awesome band - I saw them on the tour for Stain and again last year when they toured the new album. Very inspiring both times.

There was one or two that were supposedly owned by Vernon, but according to Dennis Diamond, his tech, they were just custom paintjobs and never played by Vernon.

Re: Living Colour - Vernon Reid (going thru the old cds)
I saw Living Colour live a few weeks ago and I got Vernon's pick.
Great set but they hardly played anything from Stain, my favourite album.
