Looking for new 7 string artists.

Been listening to the same old stuff (Korn, Dream Theater), and would like some suggestions as to other groups that use 7 strings. Don't like Meshuggah (some of the most overrated stuff I've ever heard in my life), but do like general trash, jazz, and some "rock".

I'm willing to give anything a try to broaden my 7 string horizons, even if it's not in my generally liked field of taste.

Re: Looking for new 7 string artists.

chimera (i think thats how you spell it) would be one. there is also this progressive band, "pagan's mind", that is really cool. one of my students wanted me to check them out. to be honest, i THINK there were 7s in there. i only listened once and went back to my fusion stuff(same with the chimera cd)

Since you like jazz check out John Pizzarelli (www.johnpizzarelli.com). He's using a 7 string hollowbody (www.mollist.com)

Tony MacAlpine is a musical genious period, I love Premonition, Evolution, Violent Machine, Master Of Paradise and Chromaticity which features him playing the 7-string, he's awesome, I recommend him to any guitarist.

Morbid Angel, is another band that I have been into ever since the early nineties and I caught them live in Boston, July 1994 and guitarist Trey Azagthoth was playing a UV7PWH, I had to have one after I saw him play one, of course it took me a few years to finally get one in early '98.

Funny

I'm listening to Morbid Angel's Domination as I type.

Truly an Excellent record

Their best in my opinion, I love Eric Rutan's leadwork and the same goes for his composition "Hatework".
