Lynch, Yngwie, Timmons, Johnny Hiland

Dallas guitar show is coming up April 18th thru the 20th. Looks like there are going to be some incredible players this year.

I made my reservations today. If anyone else is going let me know, I'll meet you for a beer.

Re: Lynch, Yngwie, Timmons, Johnny Hiland

i will be there with a friend. i can only hope that lynch brings the rest of the lynch mob band as he can be tedious to listen to in a 'jam' setting. i am one of his biggest fans, but last year was pretty horrible. we left in the middle of the set.

hiland was amazing though. that guy is seriously underrated, but i do have to say his live playing is much more fiery than his cd would indicate. may have to do with his tone. he was playing through this fuch's amp that sounded incredible. too bad it blew up in mid performance, lol. he switched to a back up marshall that sounded ok, but not nearly as good as that fuchs.

George has a bad habit of trying out new gear on stage in front of people, (people who paid to see him).

He is such a good player buy completely blows his shows by trying some new pedal or a new head.

Each time I have seen him he has sounded like crap. Talked to his tech each time and its the same old story, "Well he has some new gear".

WORK THE KINKS OUT AT HOME!!!

Re: Lynch, Yngwie, Timmons, Johnny Hiland

Lynch has been pretty bad every time he's been at the Texas show. I posted about it a couple of years ago, I think. It's like he can't hear the rest of the band, because he's either in the wrong key or misses the breaks or whatever. I seriously wonder if he's just got a lot of hearing loss. Also, he's not a good improviser. If it's something he knows, I think he's awesome. But this is not his best venue. Timmons, on the other hand, is always worth the price of admission to this show. I didn't go last year because he wasn't on the ticket. I can't go this year because of my work schedule, but I sure wish I could!

Re: Lynch, Yngwie, Timmons, Johnny Hiland

well lynch did sound pretty awesome the one year he brought lynch mob along with him. like you said, he is definitely great when he's in a familiar setting. but put him in a jam and he just plays lead the entire time. i find that he's either incredibly brilliant or that he fails miserably. lol. i wonder what the rest of the stratoblasters were thinking as george proceeded to just rip senselessly for a whole hour.

and wow, yngwie? i saw him a few years ago and he was good, if not a tad bit repetitive.

I'd give my right pinky finger (the only one i dont use for guitar ) to see Timmons live, but plane tix to Dallas + place to stay + food + ticket price probably = like 600-700 dollars, if I'm lucky.

yeah we are lucky. andy actually lives in dallas and back in the day (about 10 years ago) he would play every wednesday at this little club called blue cat blues and admission was like $5. lol, i am not lying. he would play for 2 sets full of his originals and a few covers (andy does a MEAN 'freedom' and 'black magic woman'). during the set breaks, he was always around to chat with everyone. he's one of the nicest dudes you'll ever meet, very humble and soft spoken. the club would thin out around the end of the 2nd set and then it was a real intimate setting...almost like andy was playing just for us, lol. actually, now that i think of it, we saw los lonely boys open up for andy about a year before they made it big.
