Re: Mark King and Level 42

I remember him. Blew me away back in the 80's. I remember an interview where he said he had to wear tape on his thumb to keep from wearing down the skin to the bone from playing.

Love those Alembics of his (though he's playing a JayDee in this clip) He always has the nicest basses, and he's a monster player. I'm not such a huge fan of Level 42, but Mark is the real deal, no question.

I never really liked their Pop-funk stuff, they were quite popular over here in the late 80s, but the musicianship is undeniable.

btw did you know Allan Holdsworth played for Level 42 after their guitarist died of AIDS?

Listen to the song Love Games....awesome bass lines. I'd start with World Machine,Running in the the Family, and Guaranteed. He is my favorite bassist.
