Mattias IA Eklundh

Endorsed by Steve Vai as a producer and by Caparison for the guitar.

I just discovered him. at first it is a bit challenging to listen to his playing but once you have listened a couple of times you jsut love it!

here is a link to his website with TONS of infos, scales etcetc to imprive your playing. (this is going to be useful to me...)

http://www.freakguitar.com/

and a link to his cd:

if you have a tab of "apparatus" (or an idea on how to sound like on this track) I am really interested

This guy is awesome, he's a bit like Ron Thal.

The guy not only plays well but has a wicked sense of humour!

Re: Mattias IA Eklundh

That's why you should attend the Freak Guitar Camp. My first year featured IA and Thal. And I had a great time, to be modest...

Re: Mattias IA Eklundh

I thinkin order to play apparatus you need a vibrator and to be real good at those 'slap harmonics' that IA does.

IA is a monster. A true guitar legend.

We still have good bands in Singapore (philippinos mainly)

but this guy is pretty amazing...
checking out the videos on youtube: he seems to be quite popular already.

This guy is truly amazing. The masterclass he did in Paris a couple of years ago was truly exceptional !

He has an amazing sens of humor also, and is very humble !

Re: Mattias IA Eklundh

is the masterclass in paris the one video you can find on youtube no? (apparement il a bien fait marrer l'audience...)

really wondering how he gets his sound on "apparatus" at 0'51 seconds... and at 2'01 to 2'05
standard distortion + vibrator? (never used a vibrator... not sure it can produce that kind of sound)

Re: Mattias IA Eklundh

I don't think so. I guess the one on youtube is at the FNAC (a big store) which was great also. But he did a 3 hours + masterclass at the "Ecole Atla" a couple of years ago and it was crazy !!!

Re: Mattias IA Eklundh

I'm pretty sure you can find a Apparatus tab on MySongBook, if it still exists. If not, find and ask Mr Gul. He's the man who transribes IA stuff really good.

Re: Mattias IA Eklundh

I'll try to help you out. I've seen the Apparatus tab, at least parts of it. So I guess it's out there. ) Are you on MSN? Mr Gul is a swedish freak, very good at transcribing, and Freak Kitchen/IA is one of his interests.
