Mick Thomson to Ibanez???????
I just got my new Guitar World mag and I was blown away to see an ad for
Ibanez guitars
with Mick Thomson from Slipknot. I know he was a die-hard BC Rich guy but he must have switched to Ibanez. He's holding a RG type guitar, looks to be a bolt-on, with binding. And the first 5 frets have "SEVEN" inlayed in. Looks sweet. Anyone else seen this????

Yeah, it's on the Ibanez website, Custom RGT2020, Custom S1625. Pretty damn sweet,,, beefed up RG.

I know him somewhat personally. He use to give guitar lessons here in Des Moines. Not a very friendly guy at all. Actually, he hates about everthing. But at least you knew where you stood with him. That's cool I guess...
He's a big
Paul Gilbert
fan. You may not know that looking at his pic but he is. He can shred too. Better than he does on the new Slipknot CD. And he smokes on that CD....
Jim Root is my buddy. I'll never forget how he lost his virginity in a park here in Des Moines. Great memory!!!

He's an awesome player, and as I've notice in alot instances these "New metal" dudes, are great technical players or shredders but have chosen there own path which doesn't always show case all their talent. Now that is super cool,,,, that's control.
As far as how Jim Root lost his Cherry,,,,, not to concerned
Perhaps that's another thread on another site,,, oh lets just say "ESP"

Yeah, Mick Thomson can shred, he is into all that neo-classical stuff. He did a few interviews in Total Guitar magazine, and said he used to study Yngwie and the likes. On the few examples he did for the magazine, he can really shred, and now he is bringing it into Slipknot.
But that guitar looks awesome, thats the sort of signature model I would buy. It is probably blacker than black, and doesnt have any fancy chrome or gadgets added on. Just through-and-through death!
For the sort of stuff he is doing now, what with some shredding, the BC Rich never looked right anyways. Mick knows he is good with Ibanez!

control is having your solos drowned out in the mix of your debut album?

it's no surprise- Mick started with an Ibanez...
if that's a custom prestige, then it's good to see that the headstock sports the ibanez 'swoosh'

Hehe. Well control over your guitar technique and control over Ross Robinson are two entirely different things.

Has Ross Robinson ever produced a good sounding album? I mean, Korn's debut, Slipknot's debut,
Limp Bizkit
's debut (if I recall). All not terrible sounding, but also not really great. Sounds like a high quality demo more than an average album.

Two albums, actually, both by Glassjaw; Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About Silence, and Worship And Tribute.
