I saw Neil once when he played a set before Pearl Jam. For one song, he stood in front of his amp and just let it feed back for 10 minutes. I know, because I timed it. It went from being some cool feedback, to trying to be overly artsy, to being annoying, to making me wonder if his shoes were superglued to the stage on that spot. People walked out in droves, including me to go get something to drink. I can't even begin to understand if he thought it added to the show or if he was just on another planet at the time. As a matter of fact, I don't even care.

i really love neil young's music, his harvest moon album in particular. that being said, he would be way out of place in G3

Neil would be as out of place at G3 as Vai would be on stage with Neil Young and Crazy Horse. Neil Young is an amazing songwriter and a damn good guitar player. But he's one of those guitar players that you either get it or you don't.
