new Cream CD!!!!
I work in a record store, and i got an advance copy of the new Cream live album that's coming out on tuesday.
I had pretty much written Clapton off, and after hearing his godawful latest album that came out a few weeks ago, i figured i would never listen to anything by him again. Then i got this cd, and thought "well, if anyone can light a fire under his arse, it's Ginger Baker", so i brought it home.
Yes- Clapton still has it. Oh yes he does. If you are a fan of these guys, and their stuff from the 60's, you don't want to miss this one.

Cream live album, it is the recording from the 2 or 3 reunion concerts they did a few months back?

Yes, from the shows in England a few months ago. There's also a dvd version of it coming out too.

Re: new Cream CD!!!!
I totally forgot about this. Has anybody picked up either the CD or DVD? I'm honestly not very familiar with Cream (aside from two songs). Is this worth it or is it for diehards only?

Re: new Cream CD!!!!
I got the DVD. It's definitely worth picking up even if you aren't a huge Cream fan. I've loved the band for years, but for me it was worth it just to confirm that
Eric Clapton
is indeed still alive.
Not the short-haired old dude who looks like somebody's great grandfather (and plays about the same). I'm talking about the REAL Eric Clapton who can really kick some ass. The biggest standout on the DVD seemed to be that having Cream back together really lit a fire under Clapton's a$$. I'd read an interview with the band in a recent Rolling Stone and he'd said that playing in a trio format was basically a reality check in a lot of ways. He'd gotten used to having a 10-piece backing band behind him which allowed him to only really play when he wanted to. In the trio format, he really had to WORK at playing, singing, etc.
All I can say is that it's good to see the guy actually rock again (and it's good to see that he actually let his hair grow out a bit...looks far less like a bank teller
)
Great sound, great set list (although I'm bummed that "Tales of Brave Ulysses" wasn't included") and an overall great run of shows (the DVD consists of the best takes of each song from all of the Albert Hall shows.) Definitely a worthwhile purchase.
